Miami Heat vs Phoenix Suns Analysis
The Miami Heat welcome the Phoenix Suns to South Beach where the Heat have opened as a 7.5-point home favorite with a total of 219.5 points.
Devin Booker is listed as a game time decision, but did not play last night so I think any play that is made in this game needs to wait until we get word on his status. I’ll write this with the assumption that he is going to play as a local Phoenix outlet has said they expect him in Miami. And if he travels to Miami, I have to believe he’s playing.
THE ELITE HEAT
The Heat can make the case they’re the best team in the league right now as they are 12-3 since February first, and they were the second-best defensive rated team in February.
Kyle Lowry will be in the lineup tonight and that’s a big boost for them, and they’ve been a good play against the spread as they are 7-3 ATS their last ten games. Their only loss since February 17 was a one-point loss to Milwaukee, and in the meantime they’ve taken care of business against Brooklyn with KD, Philly and Chicago…so they aren’t scared of playoff teams. They also have the rest advantage as they cruised to a win on Monday, and Phoenix is on a back to back.
SUNS IN SURVIVAL MODE
The Suns are 3-3 their last six games as they are just trying to tread water without Chris Paul and Devin Booker. They got fortunate to face Portland, New York and Orlando in three out of their last four as they won those, and lost to Milwaukee on Sunday, but last night they struggled to put away Orlando and have to turn around and play back to back against Miami.
The Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last five and that’s probably why we’re seeing a huge -7.5 number. If Booker ends up playing this number will surely drop, but I won’t make a play on this game until before game time.
Miami Heat vs Phoenix Suns Prediction
Pretty simple for me…if Booker doesn’t play I think Miami rolls as Bam can negate Ayton, and that leaves Miami with advantages at other positions. The Heat are 5-0 ATS their last five games, I think they make it 6-0 with no Booker.
If Booker plays I’ll sit out this game. My best advice is to be patient and not wager on this game til later today when we have confirmed lineups.
