Milwaukee Bucks vs Brooklyn Nets Analysis
The Milwaukee Bucks will host the Brooklyn Nets in their first game back in action since before the All-Star break on ABC’s featured game of the night. The Nets got torched 129-106 at home on Thursday night by the Boston Celtics. Meanwhile the Bucks blew an early lead at home to the Philadelphia 76ers to ultimately lose 123-120 on the night before the break.
The Bucks have had the Nets number, winning at home 127-104 during the first week of the season and 121-109 in Brooklyn on January 7th. These squads will meet for a fourth and final regular season matchup on March 31st.
Reinforcements….Please???…..
The Brooklyn Nets have now lost 13 of their last 15 games, while only getting wins against short-handed Sacramento Kings and New York Knick teams. In their latest loss to the Boston Celtics, Seth Curry led the team with 22 points while collecting 7 rebounds. Kevin Durant (knee), Ben Simmons (conditioning) and Joe Harris (ankle) all remain out indefinitely. Newly acquired Goran Dragic is cleared to make his Nets debut and Kyrie Irving can play again with the Nets finally playing a game outside of New York.
At 31-29 Brooklyn sits at eighth place in the Eastern Conference, only 2.5 games away from missing the post-season altogether. The Nets rank 12th in scoring with 110.7 points a game and 19th in scoring defense with 111.1 points allowed to their opponents.
Defending Champs Strive For Consistency
Since the beginning of the calendar year, the Milwaukee Bucks haven’t been able to string together more than four wins in a row. They have won six of their last ten games, resulting in a 36-24 record. They sit in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, only three games away from the top seed.
In their final game before the break, they were unable to contain Joel Embiid and ultimately lost to a undermanned 76ers team. Giannis Antetokounmpo fell an assist shy of a triple double with 32 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists.
Pat Connaughton joins Brook Lopez on the out indefinitely list, while George Hill and Grayson Allen are both questionable to play on Saturday. The Bucks score 113.2 points a game, ranking them sixth in scoring. They rank 16th in points allowed to their opponents with 109.8 points a game.
Milwaukee Bucks vs Brooklyn Nets Prediction
The Milwaukee Bucks are 9.5-point home favorites with an over/under set at 234.5 points. The Bucks covered both head-to-head matchups and both games remained under this total. The Nets have worst against the spread record in the league, while the Bucks are fifth-worst and they are both .500 to the over/under.
I really considered the Bucks and their team total over but they could be rusty considering they haven’t played in over a week. The Nets offense is also limited based on them being so short-handed. This total seems a bit high, let’s take a shot on the under for a small play at best.
Official Play: UNDER 234.5 Points (Small Play)
