Milwaukee Bucks vs Charlotte Hornets Predictions

  • Milwaukee Bucks -8 vs Charlotte Hornets
  • Total: 229 Points
  • Charlotte is 5-2 against the spread in their seven games as an underdog.
  • Milwaukee is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games as a favorite.

The Charlotte Hornets (13-10, 6th in NBA – East) play the role of a visitor on Wednesday night in an Eastern Conference matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks (13-8, 5th in NBA – East). The Hornets and the NBA champion Bucks will take the Fiserv Forum court in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and play at a pace that creates one of the higher scoring games on Wednesday’s basketball betting board.

The North Carolina crew from Charlotte have lost two straight while the Bucs are in line to win their eighth straight. Inside the Bucks’ seven-game winning streak lives a five-game winning streak on home hardwood for Giannis Antetokounmpo and his teammates. The Greek Freak scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, frontcourt contributor Pat Connaughton added 20 points off the bench, and the Bucks wired the injury-riddled Denver Nuggets 120-109 on Friday night, their sixth straight win.

Milwaukee followed their Friday victory at altitude with a victory in Indianapolis over the Pacers. Antetokounmpo netted 26 points while snatching 13 rebounds as the Bucks continued their winning ways, taking down the Pacers 118-100 on Sunday night.

“We’re playing together, and everybody is contributing,” Holiday told the national media following the Bucks victory in Indiana. “It’s been fun,” added Holiday.

The injuries that the Denver Nuggets are playing through benefited the Bucks on Friday night, resulting in a sixth consecutive win. Milwaukee exited Indianapolis on Sunday night with 7-0 straight up and against the spread runs. However, the Bucks are healthy and dominating their opponents.

Charlotte Hornets

Charlotte has lost back-to-back games. The Hornets fell to the Chicago Bulls on Monday night by a 133-119 margin. Terry Rozier continues to provide effecient scoring and backcourt leadership to this Hornets squad. Rozier ended the Monday victory over the Pacers with 31 points, going 11-for-17 (64.7 percent) from the field. Gordon Hayward added 22 points, while point guard LaMelo Ball scored 18 while contributing 13 assists and grabbing seven rebounds.

Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks have had a perfect mark since Nov. 14. Milwaukee is averaging 113.9 points during the seven-game winning streak. The Bucks have been the most effecient offense the last two weeks, shooting 45 percent from the field in six of the team’s seven games.

Brook Lopez isn’t yet close to returning to active duty due to a back injury. Donte DiVincenzo’s rehab has still not reached the point where he can begin moving around on his injured ankle. Semi Ojeleye remains out with a calf injury and has no regular return date.

Veteran DeMarcus Cousins officially signed with Milwaukee on Tuesday and is expected to be dressed and active for tonight’s contest.

Milwaukee Bucks vs Charlotte Hornets Injury Report

Charlotte Hornets
F Cody Martin (illness) has been ruled out.
C Mason Plumlee (calf) has been ruled out.

Milwaukee Bucks
PF Semi Ojeleye (calf) is considered day today.
SG Donte DiVincenzo (foot) is out.
Brook Lopez (back) is out.

The defense has continued its negative regression trend for the Hornets. Charlotte has allowed at least 115 points in each of the last three games while surrendering 114.9 per game this season.

“We just got to be better defensively overall,” head coach James Borrego told the national media. “We got to figure it out together. It’s a long season; these are some good teams we’re playing against. Disappointed last game against Houston, disappointed tonight in our defense — we just got to correct it.”

The defense has leaked in a big way for the Hornets the last two weeks. However, the squads’ offense has continued to be productive and efficient. Charlotte is leading the league, averaging 114.4 points a game. Unfortunately, with the combination of a white-hot Bucks team, the Hornets’ lack of attention to defensive detail, and the team’s offensive mindset, the play in tonight’s game is Over the Total.

Milwaukee Bucks vs Charlotte Hornets Analysis from The GoldSheet

Milwaukee has won seven-straight, covering the last four of those, ranking first in the league in net rating differential, and first defensively. C Bobby Portis, who’s been replacing Brook Lopez for the last few weeks and has scored 18 ppg and grabbed 9.7 rpg in that streak while shooting 54% overall and from beyond the arc. The Bucks’ pivot spot will have some support in the person of DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins is available after a six-month layoff, and he’s a nice story, but Milwaukee is Giannis, Khris Middleton, Portis and Jrue Holiday and is a deep side that appears to be gathering itself.

Milwaukee is just 1.5 games off the pace in the East but has to climb over five teams to the top, and one of the clubs lurking just behind them is this Charlotte team. Inconsistent Charlotte has been a streaky side and the Hornets are coming off a loss to Chicago in which they gave up 133 points, which was excusable, however before that they lost to Houston, and gave up 135 points through 48 minutes and that was inexcusable.
