Milwaukee Bucks vs Cleveland Cavaliers Analysis

The Cavaliers insane season rolls on against the Bucks tonight as they are 7-1 in their last 8 games despite the injuries. The Bucks have won three in a row after a mini 1-4 slump, and this game is important to the standings as both teams have exactly 19 losses.

The Bucks should have a full lineup, but the Cavs may not have Jarrett Allen tonight due to an illness which puts immense pressure on Kevin Love and Ed Davis. The Bucks are -4 with a total of 218, so we’ll look at this matchup and see if there’s a bet to be made.

Cavs Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Winning

This team never seems to get down or disappointed, and they’ve had plenty of opportunities to do so, but they are 29-19 this season and 28-16-4 against the spread this season. The last two games have been shockingly low scoring as they won 94-87 against OKC, and 95-93 against New York, but the previous six games were much more high scoring.

The Cavs have been winning, but they’ve not been a good against the spread team recently. They’re 1-4 their last five home games, and 0-3 their last three overall. They love getting the wins, but we’re looking for who’s covering games.

Bucks Turning it Around

After a 2-6 run, Milwaukee has won three straight, but they are still a disappointing team ATS as they’re 21-28 this season and 1-2 their last three games. They will have their full squad tonight, and the big 3 will play, and even though they are 30-19 on the season we haven’t really seen them dominate for a long period of time like we’ve seen the Suns and Warriors at times.

Maybe they’re saving it for the playoffs. Their three wins were at home, and this is on the road which doesn’t bode well against the spread as they are 0-3 their last three games covering the spread.

Milwaukee Bucks vs Cleveland Cavaliers Prediction

If Jarrett Allen is out, I like Milwaukee in this spot. They’ve played twice and split the games, but one game Milwaukee sat everyone. The other game featured both teams with similar squads that we see tonight and Milwaukee won by eight and if Allen doesn’t play it should be too much for Cleveland to handle. If Allen plays, I’ll pass on this game as I don’t like the matchup for Cleveland, but I don’t trust Milwaukee on the road.

OFFICIAL PLAY: If Jarrett Allen DOES NOT PLAY: Bucks -4. If Jarrett Allen plays, pass.

Milwaukee Bucks vs Cleveland Cavaliers Preview from GoldSheet

If there was a result this season that needed an asterisk affixed, it was the Cavs’ 119-90 romp at Fiserv Forum back on Dec. 18. The Bucks were without any of their regular starters, as Giannis, Donte DiVincenzo, Wesley Matthews and Bobby Portis were sidelined by health protocols, Khris Middleton was out with a sore knee, while Grayson Allen and Jrue Holiday were held out after playing extensive minutes the previous night vs. the Pelicans.

Who was left to put on the floor, Mike Budenholzer? Why didn’t this game get postponed? Whatever, Milwaukee now has more of its normal look, though note Giannis did miss Saturday’s game vs. the Kings with knee aches (he’s likely available tonight). An unsung component is Holiday, whose recent return to active duty has corresponded with the current 3-game win streak, though the Bucks still aren’t covering many numbers (just 3-8 last 11 vs. line, with only one spread W in those last three outright wins).

This time Cleveland might have more injury issues, as the offense has not been as productive minus F Lauri Markkanen (ankle, out at least another week), and the fierce board work of Jarrett Allen (11.7 rpg this month) could be missed if he’s not recovered from illness by tipoff. Given the assorted variables, the best case here might be for the “under” which lately has been recurring rather regularly both ways (Bucks 6-3 last nine, Cavs 8-3 last 11).
