Minnesota Timberwolves vs Phoenix Suns Betting Analysis
The Phoenix Suns travel to Minnesota for a Western Conference tilt with the Timberwolves on Friday the 13th. The Timberwolves watched a four game winning streak fall by the wayside in a 135-118 road loss to the lowly Detroit Pistons.
The Suns were demolished by the Nuggets 126-97 in Denver on Wednesday night. This is the third of four meetings in a regular season series Phoenix currently leads 2-0. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM EST/5:00 PST from the Target Center in Minneapolis.
Suns Continue Free Fall
The Phoenix Suns fell below .500 at 21-22 after losing their 10th game in their last 12 tries against the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggs had a tremendous shooting advantage as they went 48-85 for 56.5% compared to the Suns going 39-90 from 43.3%.
Multiple Suns players were once again missing several key players due to injury. Torrey Craig was their leading scorer with a measly 16 points on 6-6 from the field. Phoenix has dropped down to 17th in scoring with 112.7 points a game on 46.4% from the floor.
They sit at 12th in defensive rating and 9th in defensive scoring with 111.4 points allowed per game. Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Cameron Payne, Cameron Johnson and Landry Shamet have all already been ruled out for this contest while De’Andre Ayton has been upgraded to questionable with an ankle injury.
Wolves Return Home
The Minnesota Timberwolves record dropped to 20-22 on the season after losing in Detroit on Wednesday. The Pistons outshot Minnesota 48-80 for 60% compared to 43-88 for 48.9%. Anthony Edwards led the Wolves in scoring with 20 points along with 6 assists.
Rudy Gobert recorded a 16 point, 14 rebound double-double while D’Angelo Russell chipped in with 19 points and 5 assists. The Wolves enjoy home cooking as they are 12-9 at Target Center compared to 8-13 away from their den. Minnesota is slightly above average in scoring with 114.8 points a game on 49.1% from the field.
They sit at 14th in defensive rating and 19th in defensive scoring with an average of 115.5 points allowed per game. Karl Anthony-Towns and Jordan McLaughlin both remain out with injuries while Kyle Anderson is listed as questionable with an illness.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs Phoenix Suns Prediction
The Minnesota Timberwolves are favored by 5 points in this contest with a total set at 233. When the season began, the Suns were considered to be title contenders after two deep post-season runs.
They started the season with controversy and have now been completely derailed by multiple injuries. The Wolves have also taken a step back since Karl Anthony-Towns went down with an injury.
However, Minnesota is still in better form and play much better at home. The Timberwolves have the 12th most points per game and 3rd highest shooting percentage.
The Suns looked horrendous against the Nuggets in their last game and are only 2-8 in their last 10 games.
Phoenix will again be missing several key players and Minnesota will make it difficult for the Suns to find open shots as they hold opponents to 7th lowest shooting percentage. It’s obviously operation fade Suns until Booker returns, let’s roll with the Twolves in this one.
