Nets vs Jazz Analysis
The first meeting of the season for two of the favorites to lift the NBA title this year but it’s been far from plain sailing for either team of late, with the Brooklyn Nets currently on their longest losing streak of the season while the Utah Jazz have just three wins over their last fourteen games in all.
Brooklyn’s Injury Crisis
A lot of Brooklyn’s recent losing streak has come down to the fact of who’s not on the court. Kevin Durant, LaMarcus Aldridge and Joe Harris all remain sidelined for this game and with James Harden contributing just four total points in Wednesday night’s loss to the Sacramento Kings, they’ll need their bench players to step-up more than ever here if they’re to snap out of this funk they currently find themselves in.
Jazz Looking For More Energy
The Nets aren’t the only ones experiencing a severe lack of first team players of late.
The Utah Jazz were without a host of first team starters in Wednesday’s win over Denver, with Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, Jordan Clarkson and Hassan Whiteside all out, but they are expecting Mitchell and Whiteside back tonight to face the Nets.
SG Trent Forrest went off for 18 points and 8 assists in Wednesday night’s win and he’s looking for the same energy here tonight against the Nets.
Nets vs Jazz Prediction
Utah look to bank their second consecutive win since January 5th, but that will be easier said than done here tonight.
Despite all of their recent issues of late, Brooklyn are getting good production from their bench players, with Nic Claxton going off for 23 points and 11 rebounds in Wednesday night’s loss to the Kings.
On top of that, the Nets were in cruise control for a lot of that game, up by double digits at one point before allowing Sacramento to rally back late.
While teams like the Kings may fly under the radar a bit in terms of gaining Brooklyn’s full attention in games, against Utah, that simply won’t be the case.
The Nets are solid in this role as a road underdog, cashing five of their last six when going up against a .600 or greater home team.
We’re looking for the same level of focus here tonight and recommend a play on the Brooklyn Nets as big road underdogs on Friday to get the cover against the Utah Jazz in what is no doubt the marquee matchup of the night.
Prediction: Nets +4.5

Nets vs Jazz Preview from GoldSheet
Utah G Donovan Mitchell is expected to return to action in this game after missing the previous eight straight with a concussion, but the Jazz will still be without C Rudy Gobert and backup C Hassan Whiteside is still iffy after sitting out Wednesday against Denver with a back strain.
Sixth man Jordan Clarkson is in the same situation, missing the Nuggets, questionable tonight, due to a sore knee. All of those medical problems compounding Joe Ingles down for the count with an ACL tear.
That’s a lot of talent on the sidelines for Utah, and the Jazz are just 5-18-1 against the points since mid-December and 2-11 straight up over the past 13 of those.
Brooklyn is coming off its 6th straight-up loss in a row, this time a 112-101 setback at Sacramento on Wednesday, and not much to look at (or bet on) with a 5-14 spread mark since Dec. 30. Look for “Spidah” Mitchell’s return to pump some life in the Jazz.
