New York Knicks vs Golden State Warriors Predictions

  • Golden State Warriors -3.5 at New York Knicks
  • Total: 211.5 Points
  • The under is 8-1-1 in Golden State’s last ten games.

History will be made in the first game of TNTs Tuesday night doubleheader, as the 22-5 Warriors invade Madison Square Garden for a battle with the 12-15 New York Knicks. Steph Curry is two three-pointers away from breaking Ray Allen’s all time record of 2,973 makes from beyond the arc. Barring something out of left field, Curry should put that behind him in the 1st quarter.

The Warriors will be completing a road back-to-back after out lasting the Indiana Pacers for a 102-100 victory last night. Meanwhile, the New York Knicks will once again be looking to right the ship, after losing their 3rd straight game on Sunday against the Milwaukee Bucks by a score of 112-97. This is the first of two meetings between these teams, as they will play again on February 10th at Golden State.

The Golden State Warriors come into this game with the best record in the NBA, as they sit a half game ahead of the Phoenix Suns. No team in the league has been as statically dominating as the Warriors. Golden State is first in the NBA in points allowed with an average of 100.4 points a game. The Warriors are holding opponents to 42.5% from the field and 32.3% from downtown, ranking them 1st and 2nd respectively. They only allow 41.7 rebounds a game which ranks them 2nd, while collecting 46.9 rebounds a game good for 3rd. Draymond Green paces the team in boards, with an average of 7.9 a game. And that’s just the defense.

The Warriors rank 3rd in both points scored and field goal percentage on offense. Steph Curry obviously leads the team in scoring with 27.1 points per game. The Warriors have a 2nd unit that can keep up with half of the teams first unit in this league. Reinforcements are on the horizon as Klay Thompson is weeks away from a long awaited return.

At 12-15 the New York Knicks sit at 12th place in the Eastern Conference and last place in the Atlantic Division. The Knicks are in a tailspin, as they have lost three straight as well as 6 of their last 7 games. New York only scores 105.8 points a game, which is 22nd in the league. Julius Randle is the teams leading scorer with 19.1 points a game. They will be without their number two scorer as RJ Barrett has been added to the teams injury list with Covid issues.

The Knicks’ defense isn’t much better, as they rank 17th with an average of 107.4 points allowed per game. This Knicks defense can’t be trusted, as they have given up 109+ points in 6 of their last 7 games. Their perimeter defense will be their most glaring weakness, especially against the baby-faced assassin Steph Curry. It’s not going help that RJ Barrett is out as that takes away one of their best defenders and allows Golden State to focus more attention on Julius Randle.

The Warriors are favored by 3.5 points with a total of 211.5. They have thrived on short rest going 5-2 against the spread in their last 7 games with zero days rest. The Knicks are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games, while the Warriors are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games at MSG.

I don’t see how you could be comfortable backing the Knicks here. This was already going to be an uphill battle for them and now RJ Barrett and Obi Toppin are both on the injury list. The Warriors have covered the spread in 12 of their last 17 games.

Golden State played one their worst games of the season last night against the Pacers and still came out on top. Draymond Green is still one of the NBAs best defenders and he’s going to give Julius Randle all sorts of trouble. Green and the Warriors will force the ball out of Randle’s hands and make someone else beat them. Problem is…..there’s know one there without Barrett. Guess the cats out of the bag, my pick of the day is the Warriors laying a surprisingly low 3.5 points.

Official Play: Golden State Warriors -3.5

New York Knicks vs Golden State Warriors Analysis from The GoldSheet

Golden State rallied back for a come-from-behind win vs Indiana last time out. Now, an unrested Steph Curry and the Warriors move on to Madison Square Garden to try and get Curry over the 3-point record. New York’s struggles continued at The Garden vs. the Bucks on Sunday, as the Bucks stifled the Knicks 112-96 with New York suffering its sixth loss in last seven games while Thibs’ side has dropped five of six against the number. Once again, we’ll say the line seems cheap for a team that’s 22-5 on the season facing a side that’s 7-14 in its last 21 and currently in a freefall down the standings.
