New York Knicks vs Los Angeles Lakers Betting Analysis

The Los Angeles Lakers continue a five game road trip as they visit the Big Apple for an interconference showdown with the New York Knicks on Tuesday night.

The Lakers were run off the court last night in a 121-104 loss in Brooklyn against the Nets. The Knicks also lost their last game against the Brooklyn Nets, 122-115 on Saturday night.

This is the first of two head-to-head regular season games as these teams meet again on March 12th in Los Angeles. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PST as the first game of a TNT Tuesday night doubleheader.

Showtime at the Garden

The short-handed Los Angeles Lakers fell to 23-28 on the season after a beat down in Brooklyn last night. LeBron James and Anthony Davis both missed the game and Los Angeles was outshot 45-95 47.4% to 35-89 for 39.3%.

Thomas Bryant led his team in scoring with 18 points along with 9 rebounds. Troy Brown Jr recorded an 11 point, 17 rebound double-double as did Russell Westbrook with 17 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds off the bench.

The Lakers currently occupy the 13th seed in the Western Conference, 2.5 games out of the play-in tournament. Los Angeles relies heavily on their offense that ranks 6th in scoring with 116.8 points a game on 48% from the field.

Their defense has been horrendous at 19th in defensive rating but 27th in defensive scoring with 118.2 points allowed per game. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both questionable but expected to play tonight while Patrick Beverley and Austin Reeves have both been ruled out for the contest.

The Lakers are 11-11 in games where both James & Davis start, which isn’t great but much improved from their overall record of 23-28.

Knicks Need Betting Home Cooking

The New Knicks fell to 27-24 on the season after losing in Brooklyn on Saturday night. Three-point shooting was the difference as Brooklyn went 22-40 55% from beyond the arc while New York went only 10-28 35.7%.

Jalen Brunson led his team in scoring with 26 points on 10-19 from the field. Julius Randle recorded a 19 point, 10 rebound double-double along with 8 assists. RJ Barrett added 24 points and 6 rebounds while Immanuel Quickly chipped in with 16 points off the bench.

The Knicks currently occupy the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference, 9 game behind the first place Celtics and two games ahead of 8th seeded Atlanta. New York is middle of the pack in scoring at 16th with only 114.3 points a game on 45.8% from the floor.

They sit at 17th in defensive rating and 12th in defensive scoring with 112.4 points allowed per game. Mitchell Robinson remains out for another four weeks due to a thumb injury. Other than that, the Knicks sport a clean injury report, a breath of fresh air nowadays.

New York Knicks vs Los Angeles Lakers Prediction

This game is a virtual pick’em as the New York Knicks are favored by only 1.5 points with a total set at 232. The Lakers need to figure out if they can make a run this season while New York looks to improve at home.

The Knicks are an onomaly in that they are 15-11 on the road but only 12-13 at MSG. Without Mitchell Robinson in the paint, Julius Randle has seen an uptick in his rebounds and rebound chances.

Randle has a Rebounds + Assists line set at 16.5 and he has cleared that in 6 of his last 7 games while landing on 16 in the only game he fell short. Over the last 10 games, Randle has averaged 21+ rebound opportunities and 7+ assist chances.

The Lakers are a perfect opponent for Randle as they rank 2nd in pace and 11th in defensive efficiency. Randle feasted on the Lakers last season with 23 & 21 RA, AD played in both those games and James played in one.

The Lakers have also struggled with guards and centers scoring on them, so Randle getting RA from the forward position makes sense. Let’s back Randle to get the job done at MSG tonight.
