Nuggets vs Thunder Analysis
The Denver Nuggets begin a four game homestand against the struggling Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder lost for their eighth time in their last ten games 131-110 to the Sacramento Kings. Both of their most recent victories came in overtime, one against the Indiana Pacers and the other against the New York Knicks.
Meanwhile the Nuggets won their sixth-straight game 124-92 over the Portland Trailblazers. These teams split their first two meetings, both played in Oklahoma City. The Nuggets won 99-95 and the Thunder prevailed 108-94. So that sets the landscape now let’s get into some props that we can win cash on.
Nuggets vs Thunder Team Totals
The Denver Nuggets are huge 14.5-point favorites in this one with a total of 225.5 points. The Nuggets’ team total is 120.5 and the Thunder is set at 104.5. The Thunder are middle of the pack in points allowed on the season but have been giving up points in bunches. They have allowed 120 points or more in four of their last five games, with 114 points in the other game.
The Nuggets are an average scoring team on the season but have been quietly putting up impressive numbers recently. The Nuggets have scored 120 points or more in five of their last nine games, with 108 or more in the other four games. It seems like Oklahoma City is waving the white flag. It’s a huge number but I’m on the Nuggets team total over.
Recommendation: Denver Nuggets’ Team Total Over 120.5 Points
Nuggets vs Thunder Player Props
This is an interesting handicap based on there being such a huge spread and both teams missing key players. The Nuggets have been missing big names for most of the season but seem to have figured out how to thrive with this group. The Thunder have been horrible all season but have looked even worse without Josh Giddey and Lou Dort.
Theoretically Nikola Jokic should be able to do as he pleases against an Oklahoma City Thunder team short on big men. The Thunder allow the second-most rebounds to opposing centers. Jokic has had mixed results with 18 and 7-rebound efforts against OKC. However his total is set at 14.5 and with the high probability of a blowout that’s alot to ask for.
It’s an obvious place to look but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been scoring at will with 32, 36 and 37 points in three games since he returned from injury. He too has had mixed results, with 27 and 8-point games against Denver. Gilgeous-Alexander has gotten himself consistent free throws, going 24-for-30 in the last three games. His number is set just low enough at 25.5 points, just need to avoid the blowout.
Recommendation: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander OVER 25.5 Points
Nuggets vs Thunder Same-Game Parlay
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander OVER 19.5 Points
- Nikola Jokic OVER 11.5 Rebounds
- Denver Nuggets -4.5
-105 Odds
As usual, we will utilize our best player prop but lowered with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander over 19.5 points. We mentioned the Thunder allowing the second-most rebounds to opposing centers, Jokic should have a field day. The lowest we can get his rebounds to is over 11.5, a total he has hit in nine of his last 11 games. The Thunder have hung around with the Nuggets in two home games, but it’s going to be a different story in the altitude of Denver. We will add Denver alternate line of -4.5 and hope for a close cover to give the other legs a chance to hit. Put all three together with confidence for a -105 price.
