Oklahoma City Thunder vs Denver Nuggets Analysis
The Denver Nuggets wrap up a quick two game road trip with a visit to Chesapeake Energy Arena to face the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder won the first of two home games 116-108 against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday evening.
The Nuggets suffered a road loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers 121-108. These teams met for the first of four games with the Nuggets prevailing 122-117 in Denver.
They split the four head-to-head meetings during the 2021-22 campaign. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM EST/5:00 PST on NBATV.
SGA Leads The Way
The Oklahoma City Thunder enter this contest on a roll with four straight victories after losing their first three games of the season. The Thunder picked up a 116-108 at home over the Orlando Magic in their last game.
No surprise, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team in scoring with 34 points while adding 6 assists and 4 rebounds. SGA went 12 for 18 from the field and 11 for 12 from the charity stripe. Aleksej Pokusevski chipped in 16 points and lead the team in rebounding with 9 boards.
Josh Giddey paced the team in assists with 10. Defense has been the calling card for OKC as they rank 4th with 107.1 while holding teams 32.4% from beyond the arc.
Offensively they rank 20th with 112.9 points a game. Gilgeous-Alexander has been outstanding through the first seven games of the season with and average 31.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists a game.
Nuggets Look For Bounce Back
The Denver Nuggets will look to right the ship after losing 121-108 on the road in LA against the Lakers. Nikola Jokic led the way with 23 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. Jamal Murray added 21 points and 5 assists in the loss.
The Denver bench fell completely flat, being outscored 41-22 against the Lakers. The Nuggets have really struggled to defend this as they rank 23rd with 117 points allowed per game.
They also rank 22nd in both opposing field goal and three-point percentage at 47.7% & 36.6% respectively. They rate just above average in scoring as they rank 13th with 114 points a game. Bones Hyland sat out against Los Angeles and is questionable to return on Thursday night.

The Denver Nuggets are favored by 6.5 points over the Oklahoma City Thunder with a total of 228.5. Both sides enter this game going in different directions as the Thunder have won four straight while the Nuggets have lost two straight.
The Nuggets have struggled away from home with a 1-3 record. When you have Jokic and SGA involved there should be plenty of scoring as they combined for 239 at the end of last month. The Thunder team total is set at 111.5, a total they have cleared in 4 of 7 games.
