Orlando Magic vs Boston Celtics Betting Analysis
The Boston Celtics travel to Orlando for an Eastern Conference clash with Magic on Monday night. The Magic are coming off a 138-118 drubbing in Washington against the Wizards. The Celtics won their 9th straight game 106-104 in Toronto against the Raptors.
This will be the fourth and final game in a regular season series that Orlando currently leads 2-1. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST/4:00 PST from Amway Center in Orlando.
Celtics #1 in NBA
The Boston Celtics will be looking for their 10th straight victory after improving to a NBA best 35-12 on the season with a victory over Toronto. Boston had a tremendous edge from beyond the arc where they shot 16-35 for 44.7% while Toronto went only 7-19 for 36.8%.
Jaylen Brown led the team in scoring with 27 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Grant Williams scored 25 points off the bench while Malcolm Brogdon also chipped in with 23 points and 7 rebounds.
The Celtics are the leagues 2nd best scoring team with 118.5 points per game. They have improved defensively with the addition of Robert Williams III and now rank 5th in defensive rating and 10th in defensive scoring with 112.2 points allowed per game.
Marcus Smart (ankle) and Malcolm Brogdon (personal) have both been ruled out for this contest while Robert Williams III is questionable with a nagging knee.
Magical Against Celtics
The Orlando Magics record dipped to 17-29 on the season after losing in Washington on Saturday. The Wiz outshot Orlando 51-95 for 53.7% compared to 42-90 for 46.7%.
Markelle Fultz led the team in scoring with 23 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Franz Wagner scored 20 points while Paolo Banchero chipped in with 15 points and 4 assists.
The Magic occupy the 13th spot in the Eastern Conference, 17.5 behind first place Boston. The Magic have beaten Boston in two of three games this season by scores of 117-109 and 95-92. Orlando ranks 27th in scoring with only 110.9 points per game on 47% from the field.
They rank 23rd in defensive rating and 17th in defensive scoring with 114.7 points allowed per game. Johnathan Isaac is currently listed as questionable with a knee injury while Chuma Okeke will remain out with a knee injury.
Orlando Magic vs Boston Celtics Player Prop Prediction
The Boston Celtics are 8 point road favorites with a total set at 229.5. Two teams heading in opposite directions, however Orlando has won two of three against Boston this season.
The rookie phenom Paolo Banchero has had success against Boston with 23, 20 and 31 points in his three games against them. Banchero has scored 18 points or more in 6 of his last 10 games.
The Celtics do have an excellent defense but have allowed the 2nd most points to opposing small forwards during the last 30 days.
Their defense takes a hit without Smart on the court, if Williams III misses this game the rim will be exposed and that’s where Banchero does his work.
The spread is only 8 and without Smart & Brogdon, a blowout is less likely. Let’s go over 18.5 points for Banchero against Boston tonight.
