Orlando Magic vs Detroit Pistons Analysis
The Detroit Pistons travel to Orlando for an Eastern Conference clash with the Pistons in the NBA’s lone Thursday night game.
With the combination of St. Patrick’s Day and the first games of the NCAA Tournament, the NBA has decided to go with an extremely light one game slate.
The Magic watched their record dip to 18-52 after getting run over by the Brooklyn Nets 150-108 on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile the Pistons lost their fourth straight game 105-98 in Miami, dropping their record to an eerily similar 18-51. This will be the fourth and final head-to-head meeting between these squads.
The Pistons won two of those three games, both at home 97-92 and 110-103. The Pistons won on their home court 119-103. These two teams are battling with Houston for the worst overall record in the league as all three teams will be lottery participants this spring.
Nothing Magical About Loss to Nets
The Orlando Magic were blown out by the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night after not being able to bounce back from a 86-55 halftime deficit.
The scoring they did was spread out evenly with Cole Anthony scoring 19 points, Wendell Carter Jr & Franz Wagner scoring 18 points and Moritz Wagner putting up 17 points off the bench.
Orlando is 5-5 in their last 10 games, but are on a two game losing streak. The Magic will play this game without Jalen Suggs, while Wendell Carter Jr is questionable. Orlando ranks 28th in scoring with only 104.2 points a game and 22nd in defensive scoring with 112.2 points allowed to their rivals.
Pistons Stuck In Four Game Losing Streak
The Detroit Pistons were beating the Miami Heat for the majority of the game, but were outscored 37-25 in the fourth quarter to ultimately lose their fourth straight game.
Jerami Grant led his team with 22 points, while Isaiah Livers chipped in with 16 points of his own. The Pistons are now 4-6 in their last 10 games.
Cade Cunningham missed the game due to an illness and is questionable again tonight. The Pistons also had to play without 2nd and 3rd string point guards Frank Jackson and Hamidou Diallo, both are out once again.
If Cunningham is unable to play the Pistons will once again be ridiculously thin at point guard position. On top of that, now Jerami Grant is out with knee inflammation. The Pistons rank 23rd with 112.3 points allowed to their opponents and 29th with only 103.5 points scored per game.
Orlando Magic vs Detroit Pistons Prediction
The Orlando Magic enter this game as three point favorites with a total of 219. Neither one of these teams are in a rush to stack wins, as they rather chase ping pong balls and build around their young cores.
Both teams struggle to score, ranking 28th & 29th out of 30 teams in scoring. Two out of the three head-to-head games have fallen under this total with only 222 in the game that went over.
Both teams also look to be missing key scorers for tonight’s contest. All signs points towards the under and that will be our play tonight.
Prediction: Under 219
