Pelicans vs Grizzlies Betting Analysis
The New Orleans Pelicans made a splash trade at the deadline by acquiring PG CJ McCollum. Tonight, they host the Memphis Grizzlies who have just won their 40th game this season and are currently on a four-game road winning streak.
The Grizzlies are currently 4-point favorites on the road, and it is unknown at the moment if superstar point guard Ja Morant will suit up for Memphis after being listed as day-to-day with an ankle injury. I anticipate this number growing larger if Morant is good to go.
Pelicans Playing Better, But Still Losing
Over the last ten games, the Pelicans are 5-5. While they are only .500 in their last ten games, the Pelicans are averaging 107.7 points compared to letting up only 105.2.
The Pelicans smoked the Raptors at home on Monday, but need to lock in against a superior opponent on the second night of a back-to-back. The good news is the Pelicans do not have anyone on the injury report, so they should be ready to rock and roll against one of the more stout teams in the NBA this season.
The Grizzlies are Rolling
The Memphis Grizzlies are on a five-game winning streak and have been averaging a whopping 129.4 points per game over this stretch. The Grizzlies are fourth in the league in points this season and are second in the league in two-point field goal percentage.
Basically, the Grizzlies are a well-oiled machine with no signs of slowing down. Even if Morant, the best player on the team, can’t go tonight, the Grizzlies should still be on pace to win the ball game.
Pelicans vs Grizzlies Prediction
Even with Ja Morant on the injury report, this Grizzlies team is a great squad that is high powered on offense and stout defensively. While the Pelicans are looking to improve as a squad, and have some great players, they still pale in comparison in this match up.
With Morant’s status still up-in-the-air this morning, I do not have an official play for this game, but, I would lean toward taking the Grizzlies -4, even without Morant.
The Grizzles are the better of the two teams the the Pelicans are playing on the second night of a back to back. I think the Grizzlies win and cover in their second matchup against the Pelicans this season.

Pelicans vs Grizzlies Preview from GoldSheet
New Orleans is coming off one of their biggest victories of the season, as the Pels destroyed Toronto 120-90, shooting more than 58% along the way. CJ McCollum has scored 25 ppg, grabbed 7.3 rpg and handed out 5 apg in his three games as a Pelican, and was a key to his new team picking up its first victory since he moved from Portland.
Now, note that New Orleans is just 2-8 against the number this season playing the second night of back-to-back games, but the Pelicans have controlled the series, winning 10 of the last 13 meetings with Memphis straight-up and has covered the last seven of those games.
Memphis has won eight of its last nine straight-up and against the points and is 18-4 straight-up and against the pointspread in its last 22 on the road this season.
New Orleans took the first meeting this season in Smoothie King Arena with Nikell Alexander-Walker leading the Pels with 21 pts., while Ja Morant’s 22 wasn’t enough with the Grizzly bench making only 10 of 26 shots and was outscored by 14 points by their New Orleans counterparts.
