Pelicans vs Kings Analysis

The Pelicans and the Kings face off for the third and final time this season. The Kings are 2-0 in the matchups between these teams this season, but both teams have changed drastically since the last time that they played.

The last game between these two teams was in November, and since then, both teams have added and subtracted core players to their units at the trade deadline. The Kings got rid of Buddy Hield and Tyrese Haliburton and since then, De’Aaron Fox has been on a tear.

For the Pelicans, they added veteran shooting guard CJ McCollum and they have won three of their last five games.

Pelicans Taking Flight

The Pelicans are 5-2 as a home favorite this season and are looking to improve upon that number in this matchup vs the Kings. The Pelicans are 6-4 in their last ten games and are currently holding on to the final spot for the play-in tournament.

Brandon Ingram and Jonas Valanciunas have been keeping the Pelicans afloat as their top players over the past ten games. CJ McCollum has also come on strong since being traded to New Orleans and should take over as their leading scorer. The Pelicans have been playing good basketball and the best may still be ahead of them.

Fox Wears the Crown

The Kings made a shocking move at the trade deadline by moving on from young combo guard Tyrese Haliburton. However, since his departure, De’Aaron Fox has been on a rampage, averaging 27 points per game over his last ten games.

The Kings are 9-13 this season as road dogs. Yes, they beat New Orleans twice already this season, but these teams are not the same as they were before. The Kings are 4-6 in their last ten games and are allowing opponents to score 117.9 points per game.

Pelicans vs Kings Prediction

The Pelicans certainly seem due to beat up on the Kings this season. The Kings are currently the 13-seed in the Western Conference. If the Pelicans want to be in the postseason or at least the play-in tournament, this is a must-win game. I believe the Pelicans got better at the trade deadline while the Kings made surprising moves. I like the Pelicans -6 and expect them to take home a win tonight.

Pelicans vs Kings Player Props

From GoldSheet: It has not taken long for recent addition CJ McCollum to get comfy in his new surroundings, scoring 28 points per game since moving from Portland at the trade deadline. Since acquiring McCollum, the Pelicans have the seventh-ranked offense in the league.

We’ve got our eye on some three-point props for McCollum tonight. He’s attempted 6+ three-pointers in 14 of his last 15 games and 9+ attempts in eight games since January 19. So volume and attempts certainly aren’t the issue. Can he get three to fall? At FanDuel, McCollum’s made three-point total has opened at 2.5 (over -136).
