Philadelphia 76ers vs Atlanta Hawks Analysis

The 76ers are 10-point favorites tonight as they host the depleted Atlanta Hawks tonight as the Hawks are coming off a loss last night to the depleted Magic. After what Philly has been through this season at times with their lineups, they certainly will not have any sympathy for teams playing without starters.

Philadelphia is coming off a win against Boston on Monday, but had lost four out of five before that and Atlanta’s season of disappointment continues as they are now 14-16 this season and are losers of seven out of 10 games.

The offense has not been clicking for the 76ers recently as they’ve struggled to get their chemistry together, which is certainly understandable, but they’ve had some real duds on the offensive end putting up 96 against Miami, 91 to Memphis and 105 to a Brooklyn team who barely fielded a team. The win against Boston was encouraging, but they got 41 points from Embiid and only scored 108 points in a five point win. They are 1-4 ATS their last five home games, and they’re just not a team I want to put my money on.

Speaking of teams I don’t want to bet on, the Hawks are so depleted they had Lance Stephenson playing meaningful minutes in the fourth quarter last night as they lost to an Orlando team missing most of their team. Reddish played hero ball all night, and they looked bad. Collins should’ve feasted last night, but couldn’t get in a rhythm, and it was just a rough performance. Based on what I watched last night I can’t bet on them.

The only play worth looking at is the under here. The 76ers offense has had no rhythm, and has been Embiid dependent. He should have a good game tonight as Atlanta won’t have Capela, but the role players haven’t shown anything impressive on the offensive end. That combined with how bad Atlanta was on offense with the skeleton crew leads me to believe scoring points will be difficult. Take the under.

OFFICIAL PLAY: Under 208

Philadelphia 76ers vs Atlanta Hawks Preview from GoldSheet

Atlanta is traveling to Philly tonight after being upset by Orlando at home last night, when the Hawks were without Star Trae Young, C Clint Capela and F Danilo Gallinari (all starters) as well as backup Lou Williams. Atlanta has lost 6 of its last 8 games, during which time the Hawks rank 23rd defensively. Despite the recent return of swingmen Cam Reddish (34 pts. last night) and Bogdan Bogdanovic, the Hawks were so desperate for some help they signed Lance Stephenson (just 1 pt., but 8 rebs., 5 assists vs. the Magic), who was last seen in an NBA game with the Lakers in 2019.

Philadelphia has fewer problems, with the Sixer starting 5 intact except for G Tyrese Maxey, who’s iffy with a quad injury. Hawks are 3-6 vs. the points on the road in 2nd of back-to-back games the last 1+ seasons (8-13 home or away when unrested), and Philadelphia has won and covered 3 of last 4 vs. the Hawks, including this season’s Dec. 3 encounter in the ATL. Joel Embiid had 28 pts. & 12 boards in that one, and without Trae Young’s 25 pts., that game would’ve been a blowout.
