Philadelphia 76ers vs New York Knicks Betting Analysis

The New York Knicks will be shooting for their third straight win when they travel to Philadelphia to face the 76ers on Friday night. The 76ers will be looking to avoid a third straight loss after losing 106-99 in Boston on Wednesday.

The Knicks won 102-98 in Orlando against the Magic on Tuesday evening. This will be the fourth and final game in a regular season series that New York currently leads 2-1. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST/4:00 PST from the Wells Fargo Center.

Knicks Look For Series Victory

The New York Knicks improved to 102-98 on the season after winning their third game in the last four tries against the Orlando Magic.

Three-point shooting proved to be the difference as New York went 15-43 34.9% from beyond the arc while Orlando went only 6-25 24%.

Jalen Brunson led all scorers with 25 points on an efficient 9-13 from the floor and 3-6 from long distance. Julius Randle had a great all around game with 22 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists while Immanuel Quickly chipped in with 18 points off the bench.

The Knicks currently occupy the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference, 9.5 games behind the first place Celtics. They are a below average team in scoring at 18th with 114.2 points a game on 45.9% from the field. Defensively they rank 15th in efficiency and 11th in scoring with 112.4 points allowed per game.

The Knicks acquired Josh Hart from the Portland Trail Blazers for Cam Reddish and a future first-round pick, it’s unclear if he will be ready to compete in this contest. Mitchell Robinson remains out after thumb surgery.

Sixers Set On A Split

The Philadelphia 76ers record dipped to 34-19 after losing their second straight game in a hard fought game in Boston.

The Celtics outshot Philadelphia 19-35 54.3% compared to 10-31 32.3% from long range. Joel Embiid led all scorers with 28 points along with 7 rebounds. James Harden recorded a 26 point, 11 assist double-double while De’Anthony Melton was the only other Sixer in double figures with only 12 points.

Philadelphia currently occupies the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference, only four games behind the first place Celtics and one game behind the second place Bucks.

The 76ers are middle of the pack in scoring with 114.3 points a game on 48.1% from the field. Defense is their calling card as they rank 6th in defensive rating and 3rd in defensive scoring with only 110.8 points allowed per game.

The Sixers were quiet at the deadline, only acquiring power forward Jalen McDaniels in a three team deal with the Hornets & Trail Blazers. Joel Embiid is questionable for this contest with a nagging foot injury.

Philadelphia 76ers vs New York Knicks Expert Player Prop Prediction

The Philadelphia 76ers are 6.5 point home favorites with a total of 223. It’s still unclear if Josh Hart will join the Knicks or not tonight so I will be avoiding their player props for now.

Jalen McDaniels won’t be joining the Sixers tonight and Embiid is questionable, so let’s look in that direction.

De’Anthony Melton has a three-point line set at 1.5 with a ton of juice but he has 2+ three’s in 34/50 games this season with an average of 2.3 a game on 40.6% from beyond the arc.

Melton has recorded 3+ three-pointers in all three games against New York while going a combined 11-22 (50%) from long range. The Knicks are allowing the 4th most three’s on the 3rd most attempts to opponents.

Melton is actually a tick better from three-point land at home with 2.6 per game on 42.3% shooting. I don’t usually like utilizing a play with so much juice but for only two made three’s from an accurate shooter, I’ll back Melton tonight at Wells Fargo.
