Phoenix Suns vs Atlanta Hawks Betting Analysis

The Atlanta Hawks continue their West coast road trip with an interconference showdown with the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night.

The Suns won their second straight game 114-106 at home against the Toronto Raptors on Monday. The Hawks lost their fourth game in five tries 129-125 on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers.

This is the first of two head-to-head games during the regular season, they meet again next Thursday in Atlanta. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:00 PM EST/7:00 PST as the nightcap of an ESPN Wednesday night doubleheader.

Suns Settling In

The Phoenix Suns improved to 27-25 on the season after starting a two game home stand with a 114-106 victory over Toronto. Three-point shooting was the difference as the Suns went 11-28 for 39.3% while the Raps went only 9-33 27.3%.

Mikal Bridges was the games leading scorer with 29 points on an efficient 12-19 from the field. De’Andre Ayton recorded a 22 point, 13 rebound double-double while Chris Paul added 19 points and 9 assists.

The Suns sit at 7th in the Western Conference, 8.5 games behind the first place Nuggets and two games away from missing the post-season altogether. Phoenix is a below average scoring team at 20th with only 112.9 points a game on 46.3% from the floor.

Defense is still their strength as they rank 9th in defensive rating and 5th in defensive scoring with only 111.5 points allowed per game.

Devin Booker, Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet have all been ruled out for this contest while Jae Crowder continues to deal with personal issues.

Hawks Hit a Rough Patch

The Atlanta Hawks fell one game below .500 at 25-26 after losing in Portland on Monday. Long distance shooting may have been the difference as Portland went 19-40 47.5% from beyond the arc while Atlanta went only 13-30 43.3%.

Dejounte Murray led his team in scoring with 40 points with 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Clint Capela recorded a 10 point, 15 rebound double-double while Bogdan Bogdonavic chipped in with 23 points off the bench.

The Hawks currently occupy the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference, 11 games behind the first place Celtics and 1.5 games ahead of the 11th seeded Bulls.

Offense is the Atlanta calling card as they rank 9th in scoring with 116.2 points per game on 47.8% from the field.

They sit at 20th in defensive rating and 23rd in defensive scoring with 116.8 points allowed per game. Trae Young is the only player on the Hawks current injury report and he is probable with an ankle issue.

Phoenix Suns vs Atlanta Hawks Player Prop Prediction

This game is a virtual pick’em with the Phoenix Suns favored by only 1 point and a total set at 232.5. Both sides feature two of the greatest assist-men in the NBA with Chris Paul and Trae Young going toe-to-toe.

We will be focusing on CP3 for this one as his role has become even more important without Devin Booker and Cameron Payne in the picture. Paul’s assist line is 10.5, so we will go double-double to shave off an assist.

The points are a virtual guarantee as Paul has scored 10+ in 17 of his last 18 games. He has also recorded double digit assist in 4 of his last 5 games with 9 in his last game.

Atlanta allows the 9th most assists while ranking 10th in pace. With a spread of 1 and total of 232+ we should see a competitive high scoring game. Go get us that double-double CP3!!
