Phoenix Suns vs Detroit Pistons Predictions
- Phoenix Suns -12 vs Detroit Pistons
- Total: 208.5 Points
- The Pistons are 8-2 against the spread in their last ten games following a straight-up loss.
- Phoenix has covered the spread in each of its last three games as a double-digit favorite.
The Detroit Pistons (4-17, 14th in NBA – East) are a 2-9 road team so far in this young 2021-22 Association season and are being thrown into the Lions’ den on Thursday night when they travel to face the Phoenix Suns (18-3, 1st in NBA West). Phoenix earned a hard-fought victory over the Golden State Warriors on TNT Tuesday and looked to keep the basketball rolling with an 18th straight win tonight on their home floor.
A career-high in points from Detroit rookie Cade Cunningham wasn’t enough for the Pistons to earn a third road win this season. On Monday night, the former Oklahoma State Cowboys All-American finished with 26 points, including five 3-pointers in a 110-92 loss.
The Pistons fell to 2-9 on the road, but this Pistons’ squad continues to play hard and take steps in being more competitive in the final quarter of games.
“We’re trying to get our energy right, trying to get each other going, but we’ve just got to keep working at it more than anything,” Cunningham told the national media following Monday’s loss at the Moda Center.
In a marquee TNT contest between the league-leading Warriors and Suns on Tuesday night, the Suns were without All-Star Devin Booker, who departed due to a hamstring injury.
The league’s Western Conference Player of the Week was coming off three straight 30-point performances. Midway through the second quarter, Booker was replaced and taken to the locker room. Booker is expected to miss the next two games before being reevaluated.
The only other time Phoenix has won 17 straight games was during the 2006-07 season. They’ll go for their franchise-record 18th win against the Pistons on Thursday.
Detroit Pistons
Monday’s loss in Portland was the fourth of a five-game trip for the Pistons, who are 2-9 as a road team this season.
In a team, season, and career-high in points event for Cunningham, he led the Pistons in success from the three-point line in the loss to the Blazers. The five three-point shots that the Detroit rookie made were five of the Pistons’ nine 3-pointers. They shot just 25.7% (9-of-35) from the perimeter and continue to be inconsistent from beyond the arc as a team this season.
Trey Lyles has averaged 15 points and 6.3 rebounds in his last three games.
Phoenix Suns
Booker hasn’t missed a game this season. He was averaging nearly 24 points per game before Tuesday. The Suns announced on Wednesday that Booker would miss the weekends’ games and be reevaluated the first of next week. The Suns limited the Warriors to just 42 points in the second half and forced Golden State into 22 turnovers. The Suns are 9-2 at home this season.

Phoenix Suns Injury Report
F Dario Saric (right knee) is questionable.
G Devin Booker (hamstring) has been ruled out.
F/C Frank Kaminsky (right knee) has been ruled out.
F Abdel Nader (right knee) has been ruled out.
If there is a more obvious letdown spot than tonight’s game for the Suns at Talking Stick, I can’t find it. The Suns kept a possible record-setting franchise winning streak alive with Tuesday’s win over the Golden State Warriors and did it for the most part without their top scoring threat Devin Booker due to injury. Tonight they will be without Booker and set the stage in front of a vocal home crowd to win an 18th consecutive game.
Call me crazy, but if I am emotionally tied inside of this game tonight, with the backdrop and stage set as it is, I am inside this matchup on the visiting Detroit Pistons and the points.

Phoenix Suns vs Detroit Pistons Analysis from The GoldSheet
Phoenix hasn’t lost since October 27, winning its 17th-straight with the win over Golden State on Tuesday while catching the Warriors for the best record in the NBA. Remarkable, really, but wonder how much intensity the Suns will have in this “sandwich” game as a 12-point favorite. Phoenix, which will reportedly be without leading scorer G Devin Booker with a hamstring injury, has a rematch with the Warriors scheduled for tomorrow might at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
Despite the win streak, oddsmakers have done a good job of adjusting, as the Suns are just 4-5 vs. the points in the last 9 of their victories but have covered their last 3 chances as double-digit favorites. In an applicable anomaly, last season’s Feb. 5 Sun victory at home against Detroit was the team’s first series win in 5 years, as the Pistons have won 11 of the last 13 encounters SU and are 16-2 against the number facing the Suns since the 2012-13 season. Suns will win their 18th in a row and set up tomorrow’s rematch with the Warriors, but the Pistons might give them a game despite their current 7-game losing streak.
