Phoenix Suns vs Golden State Warriors Analysis
The Phoenix Suns host the Golden State Warriors in the second of four head-to-head meetings on Wednesday evening from Talking Stick Resort Arena. The Warriors were blown out 134-105 in Phoenix back on October 25th.
The Suns will be looking to avoid a third straight loss after losing a 113-112 nail-biter on the road against the Miami Heat on Monday. Golden State boatraced the San Antonio Spurs 132-95 on Monday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:00 PM EST/7:00 PST as this will be the second game of an ESPN doubleheader.
Warriors Search For First Victory Away From Home
The Golden State Warriors crushed the San Antonio Spurs 132-95 on Monday in a game where they won all four quarters. Jordan Poole led all scorers with 36 points on 13 of 20 from the field and 5 of 10 from three-point land on his bobble-head night.
Steph Curry added 16 points while Jeremy Lamb scored 17 off the bench. The reigning NBA champs are off to a shaky start as they remain below .500 despite winning three of their last four games.
They are a putrid 0-7 on the road resulting in a 6-8 record. Golden State ranks 3rd in scoring with 117.4 points per game and 27th in defensive scoring with 117.5 points allowed per game.
Klay Thompson sat out Monday nights contest for right achilles injury management and while he should return on Wednesday, the Warriors are still without the services of Andre Iguodala.
Suns Look To Avoid Three Game Losing Streak
The Phoenix Suns face a familiar foe after losing their second straight game 113-112 on the road in Miami after blowing a 13 point 4th quarter lead.
Devin Booker led his team in scoring with 25 points on 11 of 22 from the field. Duane Washington Jr added 21 points of the bench while De’Andre Ayton chipped in with a 16 point 12 rebound double-double.
Head coach Monty Williams expressed his frustration after the game “that his team only got four free throw attempts in a physical game where everyone was bumping”.
Phoenix boasts the #1 scoring defense in the NBA with only 106.1 points allowed per game. They rank middle of the pack offensively at 14th with 112.5 points a game. Chris Paul missed his last three games with a heel injury and is questionable for tonight’s contest.
Phoenix Suns vs Golden State Warriors Prop Prediction
This game is a virtual pick’em with the Golden State Warriors favored by only a point with a total of 228. The Warriors will be out for revenge after the embarrassing loss they suffered against the Suns back in October.
Klay Thompson in particular should be, after being ejected against Phoenix with only two points in that game. However Thompson has struggled to score more often than not as he has fallen short of his points prop of 17.5 in 7 of 11 games this season.
The teams he has surpassed 17.5 points include: the Orlando Magic (6th most three’s allowed to opposing shooting guards), the Miami Heat twice (most 3’s to opposing shooting guards and the Los Angeles Lakers who are middle of the pack in that category.
The Phoenix Suns allow the 28th most three-pointers to opposing shooting guards. The Suns are smart enough to focus in on Curry & Thompson will laying off guys like Draymond Green and Kevon Looney.
Jordan Poole scoring 36 points the other night could also impact Thompsons minutes tonight. Thompson definitely has this game circled on his calendar but I’m not sure it matters based on his prior performances.
