Phoenix Suns vs Los Angeles Lakers Betting Analysis
The Los Angeles Lakers visit the Footprint Center for a Western Conference clash with the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. The Suns defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 118-114 for their second straight victory on Saturday night.
The Lakers hung on for a 119-117 win over at home last night against the Washington Wizards. This is the second of four regular season meetings between these teams, the Suns prevailed 115-105 at home on November 22nd. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 PM EST/6:00 PST on NBATV.
Lakers Cling To Victory Over Wiz
The Los Angeles Lakers improved to 13-16 on the season after surviving a 119-117 game against the Washington Wizards on Sunday night. Lebron James led all scorers with 33 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds.
Thomas Bryant recorded a 16 point 10 rebound double-double while Lonnie Walker IV added 21 points. The Lakers have won two straight games but are only 5-9 on the road this season. Los Angeles relies heavily on offense as they rank 8th in scoring with 115.5 points per game.
They have struggled on the defensive side of the court as they rank 25th with 116.3 points allowed per game. Anthony Davis, Wenyen Gabriel and Juan Toscano-Anderson have all been ruled out for this contest while Patrick Beverley is listed as day-to-day with a lingering calf injury.
Suns Get Revenge On Pelicans
The Phoenix Suns dominated in the second half and finally got a victory over the New Orleans Pelicans 118-114 on Saturday. New Orleans had gotten the better of Phoenix in back-to-back games last week.
Devin Booker popped off with 58 points on 21-35 from the field and 6-12 from beyond the arc. Chris Paul added 18 points with 8 assists while Mikal Bridges chipped in with 15 points. “It’s unreal,” Chris Paul said. “I’ve had the opportunity to play with a lot of greats: Blake Griffin, James Harden and now Book. Sheesh you just try to not get caught watching.”
The Suns defense ranks 7th in scoring with 110.8 points allowed per game on 46.9% from the field. Offensively they sit at 10th in scoring with 115.4 points per game on 47% shooting.
Devin Booker, Cameron Payne, Jock Landale and Duane Washington Jr have all already been ruled out for this contest while De’Andre Ayton is questionable with an ankle injury.
Phoenix Suns vs Los Angeles Lakers Prop Prediction
The Phoenix Suns are heavy home favorites with a 9 point spread and a total of 229.5. This is matchup between two talented teams that will be missing superstars as Anthony Davis and Devin Booker have both been ruled out for this contest.
Both sides also have plenty of other injuries to factor into this game. The Lakers team total is set at only 108.5 and they have eclipsed that number in 11 of their last 12 games. The Suns have been struggling defensively as they have allowed 5 of their last 6 opponents to clear this total.
As I write this, Lebron James has been ruled out with ankle soreness. When they release player props, look towards Lonnie Walker IV points over and maybe even some Russell Westbrook overs.
Regardless I still don’t see defense being a priority for either team and I see Los Angeles scoring 109+ against this thin Phoenix defense.
