Phoenix Suns vs Minnesota Timberwolves Betting Analysis
Two winning streaks collide as the Minnesota Timberwolves visit Talking Stick Resort Arena for a Western Conference clash with the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night.
The Suns won their second straight game 117-103 on the road against the Utah Jazz on Monday night. The Timberwolves won their fourth straight game 119-115 on the road against the Sacramento Kings.
This will be the third and final game in a regular season series that Phoenix evened up 1-1 with a 129-117 victory in Minnesota on November 9th. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:00 PM EST/7:00 PST as the nightcap of an ESPN Wednesday night doubleheader.
Timberwolves Shoot For Fifth Straight Victory
The Minnesota Timberwolves upped their record to 39-37 on the season after winning their fourth straight game over the Kings on Monday.
Long distance shooting proved to be the difference as Timberwolves shot 9-24 for 37.5% while Sacramento shot only 5-27 for 18.5%. All five starters scored double digits, led by Jaden McDaniels 20 points.
Rudy Gobert recorded a 16 point, 16 rebound double-double as did Kyle Anderson with 15 points and 11 assists. The Twolves currently occupy the 7th seed in the Western Conference, only a half game behind the Golden State Warriors to avoid the play-in tournament.
The Timberwolves rank 11th in scoring with 115.9 points a game on 49.1% from the field. They sit at 12th in defensive rating and 18th in defensive scoring with 116 points allowed per game.
Karl Anthony-Towns (calf) and Anthony Edwards (calf) are listed as probable while Jaylen Nowell (knee) and Taurean Price (illness) are both listed as questionable.
Suns Fully Healthy Again
The Phoenix Suns improved to 40-35 with their second straight victory over Utah on Monday. Turnovers killed the Jazz as they were nearly doubled up 13-7 in the turnover battle.
Devin Booker led his team in scoring with 24 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Chris Paul added 9 points and 10 assists while De’Andre Ayton chipped in with 14 points and 8 rebounds.
The Suns currently occupy the 4th seed in the Western Conference, only a half game ahead the 5th seeded Clippers for home court in the first round of the post-season. Phoenix has dropped down to 18th in scoring with only 113.7 points a game on 46.8% from the field.
Defense has been their calling card as they sit at 8th in defensive rating and 5th in defensive scoring with only 111.9 points allowed per game. Kevin Durant is listed as questionable with an ankle injury but is expected to return and is the only player listed on the injury report.
Phoenix Suns vs Minnesota Timberwolves Expert Prediction
The Phoenix Suns are five point home favorites with a total set at 235. Both teams are fully healthy and trending upward as the Timberwolves have won four consecutive games, while the Suns are winners of back-to-back games.
The Suns are excited to see the return of Kevin Durant, however how his playing time will be handled is still a complete mystery. Keep in mind, he missed nearly two months with an injured knee on the same leg he now has ankle issue with.
Minnesota has not only won four straight games, but beaten four straight quality opponents in New York, Atlanta, Golden State and Sacramento.
At full strength, the Twolves can hang with almost anyone in the NBA. Give me Minnesota and the points here.
Prediction: Minnesota Timberwolves +5 -110 Draftkings
