Phoenix Suns vs Toronto Raptors Predictions and Player Props January 30

Phoenix Suns vs Toronto Raptors Betting Preview

WagerTalk handicapper and renowned Daily Fantasy expert Ben Burns provides his predictions and a player prop from tonight’s showdown between the Toronto Raptors and the Phoenix Suns.

This should be an exciting contest, as these clubs have a history of playing close games against each other. Things were tight the entire way when the Raptors hosted the Suns on December 30th. Only two points separated the teams at halftime and Toronto ended up winning by nine.

Both of last season’s meetings were also close the entire way. Each was decided by five or fewer points. In fact, the road team won both games.

As you’ll read below, this game may go a long way in determining which direction the Raptors take at the upcoming trade deadline.

Super Bowl Sunday is nearly here and Ben Burns is WagerTalk’s #1 ranked big game NFL handicapper, dating back to December. Phoenix Suns vs Toronto Raptors Betting Odds

Phoenix Suns vs Toronto Raptors Betting Analysis

The Toronto Raptors travel to Footprint Center in Phoenix to take on the Suns. Both teams are rolling.

Despite the fact that Devin Booker remains out, the Suns have covered the spread in five of their past six games. Most recently, they won by 10, in over-time, at San Antonio. Chris Paul led the way with 31 points.

The Raptors are nearly as hot as their hosts. They’ve won three of their past four games, while covering the spread in four of their last five. Precious Achiuwa, filling in for the injured O.G. Anunoby, is coming off one of his biggest games. He had 27 points and 13 rebounds.

Toronto is right in the middle of an extended West Coast road trip. This will mark the Raptors’ fourth straight away game. Already 2-1 through the first three legs of the trip, the Raptors will conclude their voyage with stops at Utah, Houston and Memphis.

No Booker, No Problem

The Suns recently went through a 3-week stretch where they lost 12 of 14 games. It seemed that they couldn’t win without their superstar.

Devin Booker has yet to come back from injury. However, other players have returned and the Suns have seemingly figured things out.

Saturday’s double-digit win over the San Antonio Spurs brought Phoenix to 5-1 its past six games, both straight-up and against the spread.

Balanced scoring has been a key theme for the Suns. Over their past six games, six different players have scored at least 20 points.

Ayton had only four points in 31 minutes in this season’s first meeting. He scored 23 last game and 19 before that. So, it’s safe to say he’ll improve on his December 30th numbers.

Raptor Rumors

There have been a lot of trade rumors swirling around Toronto. Given their sub-500 23-28 record, the Raptors have typically been thought of as “sellers.” Nearly every player’s name has been tossed around.

However, it’s also not inconceivable that they could go the other way and become “buyers.” Certainly, a few more wins on their current trip could change a lot. Currently, there’s talk that the Raptors are interested in acquiring San Antonio’s Jakob Poletl.

Phoenix Suns vs Toronto Raptors Player Prop Prediction – Betting Player Prop Pick

This game is expected to be close with the Phoenix Suns favored by 1.5 points and with a total of 220.5. I’ve got a big premium play on the total in this game (it’s real and it’s spectacular.. and where the true sharps visit) but I also like the following player prop.

When opposing general managers consider the Toronto roster, Fred Van Fleet is at the top of the list. His name has been the subject of several trade rumors.

Yet, Van Fleet hasn’t let it prove to be a distraction. Last game, he had 11 points, nine assists and six rebounds. However, that was an off-game, as he scored 25 or more points in five of his previous six. The game before that, he had 28 points and 10 assists. His home/road splits are nearly identical.

While the Suns’ production can come from a variety of sources, Van Fleet is the straw the stirs the drink for the Raptors’ roster. I see him bouncing back with a relatively big game.

Player Prop Prediction: Fred VanVleet Points + Assists Over 26.5 -120 (Draft Kings)
