Portland Trail Blazers vs Chicago Bulls Betting Analysis
The Chicago Bulls begin a three game road trip at the Moda Center for an interconference clash with the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.
The Blazers are coming off a 127-115 loss on the road against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night. The Bulls watched a three game winning streak fall by the wayside in a 116-91 home loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.
This will be the second and final game of a regular season series that the Blazers lead 1-0 after winning in Portland on February 4th. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:00 PM EST/7:00 PST from the Moda Center in Portland.
Bullish On The Post-Season
The Chicago Bulls slipped to 34-38 on the season after losing to Philadelphia on Wednesday. Long distance shooting proved to be the difference as the Sixers shot 16-37 for 43.2% while Chicago shot only 6-25 for 24%.
De’Anthony Melton led all scorers with 25 points on 8-16 from the field. Tobias Harris added 20 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists while Tyrese Maxey chipped in with 21 points. The Bulls currently occupy the important 10th seed in the Eastern Conference, only 1.5 games from missing the post-season altogether.
The Bulls rank only 20th in scoring with 113.2 points a game on 48.8% from the floor. Defense has been their calling card as they sit at 5th in defensive rating and 10th in defensive scoring with 112.5 points allowed per game.
Demar Derozan has been ruled out for this contest with a quadriceps injury while Alex Caruso (foot) and Javonte Green (knee) are both listed as questionable.
Blazing a Path to Cancun
The Portland Trail Blazers snapped a six game losing streak in a victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. The Blazers dominated the interior with a 62-52 advantage in points in the paint.
Dame Lillard led his team in scoring and assists with a 30 point, 12 assist double-double. Shaedon Sharpe added 24 points and 9 rebounds while Trendon Watford chipped in with 21 points and 9 rebounds.
Portland now sits at 13th in the Western Conference, 2.5 games short of a play-in tournament spot. The Blazers are a middle of the pack scoring team as they sit 15th in scoring with 114.4 points a game on 47.8% from the field.
Defense has been an uphill battle as Portland ranks 27th in defensive rating and 18th in defensive scoring with 116.1 points allowed per game.
Jerami Grant (quadriceps) and Anfernee Simons (foot) have both been ruled out for this contest while Dame Lillard (calf), Jusuf Nurkic (knee) and Nassir Little (concussion) are all questionable.
Portland Trail Blazers vs Chicago Bulls Expert Prediction
The Chicago Bulls enter this contest as 3.5 point road favorites with a total set at 222. The Bulls are desperate for every win they can get while the Blazers days seem numbered.
The first meeting between these teams came back in February and Chicago won 129-121 as three point home favorites. The Bulls are only 14-18-2 on the road this season but are 2-0-1 ATS in their last three road games.
The Blazers are 16-18-1 ATS at home this season and are 0-3 ATS in their last three home games. Demar Derozan is out for Chicago but that’s nothing in comparison to the laundry list of the Blazers injuries.
The Bulls are better on the glass and Beverley should do a solid job defending Lillard. Give me the Bulls on the road for a small play.
Prediction: Chicago Bulls -4.5 -110 Draftkings
