Raptors vs Timberwolves Analysis
The Minnesota Timberwolves head north (scratch that…head east) to Toronto for an interconference matchup with the Raptors. The Raptors won the previous head-to-head meeting 103-91 in Minnesota last month. The T-Wolves have lost three of their last four games including a 134-112 defeat against the Boston Celtics in their most recent game.
Toronto also played the Boston Celtics in their last game, but came out on top 115-112 in overtime. The Raps have now won seven of their last ten games, including their last three. This should be a hard-fought game between two 43-win teams that are gearing up for the post-season.
Raptors vs Timberwolves Team Totals
The Toronto Raptors are short home favorites of only three points with a total of 229 points, setting the T-Wolves team total at 114.5 and the Raptors at 115.5 points.
While these teams have similar records, they have completely different styles of play. The Timberwolves play at the fastest pace in the league, while the Raptors are 28th. Toronto is ninth in scoring defense and Minnesota is 21st, seemingly the weakest unit on the court.
The Raptors don’t have the most dynamic offense but they have had huge scoring efforts against weak defenses recently, scoring 131 against the Indiana Pacers and 123 against the Los Angeles Lakers in overtime. During that same span of time, the T-Wolves allowed 134 points to the Boston Celtics and 125 against the Phoenix Suns. Toronto has enough weapons to put up 116 points against this defense.
Recommendation: Toronto Raptors’ Team Total Over 115.5 Points
Raptors vs Timberwolves Player Props
When looking over these rosters, Pascal Siakam is a name that will immediately catch your eye. He has been in a point scoring groove recently, clearing today’s line of 23.5 in seven of his last ten games. Even in the games he fell short he scored 23, 22 and 17 points. Siakam gets over with sheer volume, playing 40+ minutes and taking 20+ shots per game lately. I would recommend a play on his points over.
My favorite prop here is actually Patrick Beverley under 9.5 points. He has fallen short of this total in four of his last five games, with exactly ten points in the lone “over.” The Raptors shut down point guards, allowing the least points and third-fewest amount of three-pointers to the position.
Beverley’s minutes are down and if he gets shut down from beyond the arc, he won’t be getting ten points. Even better: You can get +105 on this prop at DraftKings at the time of posting.
Recommendation: Patrick Beverley Under 9.5 Points (+105)
Raptors vs Timberwolves Same-Game Parlay
- Beverley Points UNDER
- Siakam Points OVER
- Raptors’ Team Total OVER
*lowest numbers available for a plus-money parlay
Player props are not available on DraftKings at the time of posting, but I recommend using the three picks we mentioned already: Beverley points under, Siakam points or points + rebounds + assists over and Raptors’ team total over. Try to find the lowest number available for each play that adds up to plus money. We are in a groove with these recently, cashing a +105 ticket yesterday and a juicy +210 ticket the prior day.
