Sacramento Kings vs Portland Trail Blazers Betting Analysis

The Portland Trail Blazers get back into action in Sacramento against the Kings on Thursday evening. The Kings fell short on the road 120-109 against the Phoenix Suns last Tuesday.

The Blazers run off the court in a 126-101 drubbing at home against the Washington Wizards. This will be the second of four games in a regular season series that Portland leads 1-0 after winning 115-108 in Sacramento on opening night.

They meet again in back games in Portland on March 29th & 31st. Tip-off is slated for 10:00 PM EST/7:00 PST from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.

Kings Push For Playoff Berth

The Sacramento Kings fell to 32-25 on the season after 120-109 in Phoenix prior to the All-Star break. The Suns dominated the interior with a 62-40 edge in points in the paint.

De’Aaron Fox led all scorers with 35 points on 12-22 from the field and 4-7 from beyond the arc. Domantas Sabonis recorded a 24 point, 15 rebound double-double along with 7 assists while Kevin Huerter chipped in with 18 points.

The Kings sit at 3rd place in the Western Conference, eight games behind the first place Nuggets and five games behind the second place Grizzlies. Sacramento is looking to snap a horrendous 16 year long playoff drought.

They are the NBAs top scoring team with 119.5 points a game on 49.4% from the field. Defense has been a struggle as they sit at 22nd in defensive rating and 23rd in defensive scoring with 117.2 points allowed per game.

KZ Okpala has already been ruled out for this contest with a knee injury, he is the only player mentioned on the Kings injury report.

Blazers Move On Without Simons

The Portland Trail Blazers record dropped to 28-30 on the season after getting crushed by Washington before the break.

The Wizards dominated almost every statistical category but including shooting where they went 45-79 57% from the field compared to Portland shooting only 36-86 41.9%. Dame Lillard led all scorers with 39 points along with 10 rebounds and 6 assists.

Cam Reddish added 18 points while Anfernee Simons scored 17 points before exiting with an ankle injury. Portland currently occupies the 12th seed in the Western Conference, 12.5 games behind the first place Nuggets and a half game short of a spot in the play-in tournament.

The Blazers sit at 12th in scoring with 114.9 points a game on 48.2% from the field. Defense has been a different story as they rank 27th in defensive rating 18th in defensive scoring with 115 points allowed per game.

We mentioned the Simons ankle injury and he is left without a timetable for return. Jusuf Nurkic also remains out (calf) along with Justice Winslow (ankle).

Sacramento Kings vs Portland Trail Blazers Expert Prediction

The Sacramento Kings are 6.5 point home favorites against the Portland Trail Blazers with a total set at 241.5.

This is clash between a couple of lousy defensive units but the Kings should have far more offensive firepower. Especially considering the Blazers will be missing over 20 points per game with Simons on the shelf.

They are also missing their big man in Jusuf Nurkic which is going to leave Sabonis to do as he pleases in the paint. Portland is only 2-9 ATS in their last 11 road games. Lillard can only do so much, I’ll pick the home team to cover.

Prediction: Sacramento Kings -6.5 -110 Draftkings
