Suns vs Mavericks Analysis
With the best of seven series tied 2-2 the Dallas Mavericks travel to the Footprint Center in Phoenix for a pivotal Game 5 against the Suns.
After the Suns cruised to victory in Games 1 and 2, the Mavericks struck back on their home floor with back-to-back wins including a 110-101 in Game 4. Tip off for this crucial Game 5 is set for 10:00 PM EST.
Suns Need to Protect Home Court Advantage
The Phoenix Suns had hopes of a quick series after dominating their first two games at home. Now they need to regroup in a hurry after losing two straight games in Dallas.
The Suns averaged 125 points in their two home games, but managed only 97.5 per game in the two games in Dallas. Superstar Devin Booker seems to have returned to form after missing time with an injury.
He scored a game high 35 points on 10 for 22 from the field in Game 4. Veteran point guard Chris Paul can’t be happy with his 5 points in only 23 minutes after fouling out.
Based on everything swirling around this game you would have to expect Paul to be locked in for an important Game 5.
Mavericks Top Gun Doncic Needs Continued Assistance From Supporting Cast
The Dallas Mavericks calling card has been defense throughout the entire season and that proved to be the case again in Games 3 and 4.
Their defense clamped down at home and held the Suns to only 97.5 points per game. Luka Doncic led his team in scoring with 26 points, but his teammates chipped in to push the Mavs to their second straight victory.
Dorian Finney-Smith scored 24 points while leading the team in rebounds with 8. Jalen Brunson also scored 18 points on 7 for 17 from the field. The Mavs have been firing away from three-point land, launching 39 attempts from beyond the arc in Game 3 followed by 44 in Game 4.
The Mavs fate still remains heavily tied to how Luka Doncic plays. He has averaged 33 points per game so far in the series and he will need another huge effort to beat the Suns in Phoenix.
Suns vs Mavericks Prediction
Sometimes a team bonds when their superstar is out, and this Grizzlies team has done that whenever Morant has been out this season, and their offense gets more spread out and tougher to defend IMHO.
Their games averaged 227 points, and I see another game with a lot of offense. This Warriors team isn’t great on defense anymore as Klay and Draymond aren’t quite as fast as they used to be, but their offense has clicked two out of three games in this series and at home they’re a different animal.
I see a lot of points in this game, I’ll take the over.
Prediction: Over 223.5
