Suns vs Pelicans Analysis
*All lines provided by DraftKings
The New Orleans Pelicans and Phoenix Suns will play Game two in a best of seven series on Tuesday night. New Orleans suffered a 110-99 loss to the Suns in Game 1.
Tip off is set for 10pm EST. The Suns were led by Chris Paul who had a 30 point 10 assist double double, while Devin Booker scored 25 points of his own.
C.J. McCollum led the Pelicans in points with 25, while Jonas Valanciunas had a monster double double with 18 points and 25 rebounds.
Suns vs Pelicans Team Total Props
The Phoenix Suns are favored by 9.5 points with a total of 221.5, setting their team total at 105.5 and the Suns at 115.5.
Obviously right off the get go we can see both teams fell well short of their team total in Game 1. The Pelicans rank 21st in pace, while the Suns rank 9th.
However it appears that the Suns are going to slow the pace in the post-season and ratchet up the defense. The Pels struggled to score points against as the Suns defense is underrated.
The Suns held the Pelicans to 100 and 102 in two regular season home games earlier this season. I’m on the New Orleans team total under in this one.
Team Total Prop Play: New Orleans Pelicans Under 105.5
Suns vs Pelicans Player Total Props
We witnessed some amazing individual performances in Game 1, like Chris Paul’s 30 points and 10 assists and Jonas Valanciunas grabbing 25 rebounds to go with 18 points.
Both these players have actually had success in those categories in the regular season as well. Chris Paul also had 15 and 18 assists in his two regular season games against New Orleans.
I could see him shooting less and playing an even greater roll as a facilitator tonight. His assist line is at 10.5 with -140 juice, we will use him in our the same game parlay. Instead we will look towards Valanciunas and his rebound dominance over the Phoenix Suns who allowed the 10th most rebounds to opposing centers this season.
Obviously we can start with the monster 25 rebound effort in Game One, it could have been even better as he had 40 rebound opportunities. His rebound total is set at 12.5, a number he also cleared in 3 of 4 regular season games with 12, 14, 16 and 17.
He eclipsed 12.5 rebounds in 32 of 45 (71%) games he played 30+ minutes and they will need at least 30 from him tonight.
So the only game he fell short against Phoenix was with 12 exactly with an average of 16.8/game when you include the playoff game. Over 12.5 rebounds seems worth the juice.
Player Prop Play: Jonas Valanciunas Over 12.5 Rebounds -140
Suns vs Pelicans Prediction
We will start with our most confident prop with the Valanciunas over in rebounds, but lowered to 11+ rebounds.
I really like the Chris Paul assists over look so we will add it with the lowest number possible of over 8.5. I really don’t think we will see the Suns dropping a game in this series and if they did it would be on the road. We add Suns money line and get -110 odds on a high probability three leg parlay.
Same Game Parlay Play:
Jonas Valanciunas Over 10.5 Rebounds
Chris Paul Over 8.5 Assists
Phoenix Suns ML -550
-110
