Toronto Raptors vs Dallas Mavericks Analysis
The Toronto Raptors (21-20, 3rd in Atlantic) reside in the lower-48 on Wednesday night scheduled to match up against the Dallas Mavericks (25-19, 2nd in Southwest). The Mavs are all-in on their home wood with the aim of stretching the team’s three-game winning streak to four. As a result, the Raptors are looking for any excuse and reason to cut the infection from the team’s three losses across the team’s last four games.
VanVleet is Toronto’s second-leading scorer averaging 21.9 points while grabbing 4.8 rebounds and diming 6.7 assists per game. Pascal Siakam tops the Raptors player personnel in the scoring column. The Raps center is averaging 23.5 points and snatching 10.0 rebounds per game.
The backcourt duo of Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson combine to carry the largest portion of the team’s points per game. Doncic is averaging 21.8 points over the last ten games, while Brunson connects for an average of 16 points while dealing 5.7 assists per event.
· The Raptors are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games as an underdog.
· Dallas is a profitable 4-1 against the spread in their previous five games as a home favorite.
· Under is 5-0 in the Raptors’ last five overall.
· Under is 21-7-1 in the Mavericks’ last 29 home games.
Raptors 7-3 Across Their Last Ten Game Despite Offensive Regression
This season, Toronto has held their own on the Association road, compiling a 9-9 mark as a visitor. However, the Raps have a sound and reasonable plan to regain some of their offensive attitudes. That plan begins and ends by continuing to be active on the stop-side of the court.
Dating back to the middle of November, the Raptors have earned the right to claim the sixth-best defensive rating in the league, surrendering a mere 108.7 points per 100 possessions.
The Raptors have an efficient and quick-strike transition attack. Toronto owns a defensive turnover rate of 16.1%, which ranks fourth in the NBA, scoring nearly 16 fast break points per game. Center Pascal Siakam leads the team in transitions points (3.3) per game.
The teams meet for the second time this season. The Mavericks earned a 103-95 win in the last matchup between the two. Toronto has ruled out C Khem Birch (nose), PG Goran Dragic(personal), and Gary Trent Jr (ankle).
Dallas’ Elite Defense Has Been Two years in the Making
The Denver Nuggets fell to 22-20 after a 23 point home loss against the Utah Jazz. Denver trailed by just three points entering the 4th quarter but were run out of the gym as Utah went on a 34-14 run. The Nuggs currently sit at 6th place in the Western Conference. The Nuggets are 2-1 on their current six game homestand. The Nuggets have benefited from another outstanding season by Nikola Jokic, who has averaged 25.3 points and 14 rebounds a game. However no team has been hit as hard with major injuries including Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr amongst others. Denver is 23rd in points scored with 107 per game and 9th in points allowed with 105.9 points to their rivals.
Toronto Raptors vs Dallas Mavericks Prediction
The Mavericks continued their defensive success Monday night by holding the Thunder to 102 game points. The Raptors have won seven of their past ten games and held a Miami Heat squad to 104 total points. The Mavericks and Raptors combined for 198 total points in the final week of October. However, both of the team’s defensive metrics have improved since that contest.
The lack of depth is an issue for coach Nurse and their staff. He has limited the first five from being proactive in transition because of the large number of minutes required by the starting five. Dallas has been offensively challenged since Doncic returned from the injury list. The Mavs own a 112.3 offensive rating. The two teams rank in the bottom third of the league in pace, and when Gary Trent Jr. is inactive, the Raptors’ offense metrics fall over two points per 100 possessions.
The WagerTalk pick to click is a play Under the oddsmakers closing total.

Toronto Raptors vs Dallas Mavericks Preview from GoldSheet
These two met in the first week of the season, with Dallas visiting Toronto and beating the Raptors 103-95 thanks, as usual, to Luka Doncic who had 27 pts., 12 assists and 9 rebounds. Mav PF Kristaps Porzingis had 18 and 10 that night, and he returned to action over the weekend and turned in in 16 ppg, 7.5 rpg, shot 53% and had 5 blocks, playing on a minutes’ restriction. Toronto has lost three of four straight up and slipped to 29th in offensive efficiency in that span, with their pace slowing to 29th and total shooting percentage slipping to 30th (and contributing to a run of five straight “under” results). Toronto’s defense is better with Pascal Siakam on the floor, and Siakam missed the first meeting, and the Mavs playing slowdown with Luka controlling the pace and have gone “under” 10-1 last 11 (and 19 of 24).
