Updated 2023 NBA Championship Prediction and Odds

Kyrie Irving of Nets Grabs Rebound

We’re just over half way through the NBA season and it’s time to look at some updated championship odds and who is most likely to capture the NBA crown come June.

There have been some slight odds changes across the league compared to the start of the season as injuries continue to take their toll on top NBA teams. Which favorite and sleeper team are we looking to hoist the trophy at the end of the season? Let’s Take a look.

Find premium expert NBA handicapper picks all season long.

Favorite to Win 2023 NBA Championship: Brooklyn Nets +550

The Nets looked to be some sort of a dumpster fire at the start of the season with much up in the air surrounding Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons.

Simmons hadn’t played a game in a Nets uniform yet and Irving dealing with off-court issues. Although they’re now dealing with an injury to Kevin Durant, this team should have their eyes set on a title if everyone heads into the playoffs healthy.

The Nets started the season 1-5 but have since gone 26-10 with Simmons filling up the stat sheet averaging 7.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game while also adding 1.5 steals per game as well.

Kyrie Irving and Seth Curry will help to fill in the Durant scoring gap while he’s on the shelf. The team is gelling beyond what many thought at the start, but if they hold on to a top-6 seed during Durant’s absence this team should be able to finish in the top 3 come start of playoffs.

Sleeper to Win 2023 NBA Championship (+2000 or Longer Odds): Dallas Mavericks +2500

This selection is based on the Mavericks making an impact come trade deadline as I feel they are still a piece away from making the NBA Finals.

They lost in five games in the Western Conference Finals last year and added Christian Wood in the offseason. If they can get one more solid piece to play with Luka Doncic, this Mavericks team is a force to recognize come playoff time.

They’re currently 5th in the Western Conference with Doncic playing at an MVP caliber level averaging 33.8 points, 9 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game. Sure Spencer Dinwiddie and Tim Hardaway Jr. are solid pieces, but these two aren’t enough to get to that NBA Finals plateau.

Specifically what they need is a formidable center who can protect down low and be a force to score inside as well.

Dwight Powell is their best center but only averages 6.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. If this team doesn’t pick up a center before the deadline and they run into a team in the playoffs that has that piece, this Mavericks team could be toast.

I trust owner Mark Cuban to speak up and make sure his team is making the best moves possible to get his team to the top.
