Washington Wizards vs Detroit Pistons Analysis
The Washington Wizards will host the Detroit Pistons at Capital One Arena on Tuesday evening in an Eastern Conference showdown. The Pistons fell to 1-2 on the season after a 124-115 road loss against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday.
The Wizards lost their last game 117-107 in overtime against the Cleveland Cavaliers, dropping their record to 2-1 on the season. This will be the first of four games in a head-to-head series Washington swept 4-0 last season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST/4:10 PST
Beal Is Back
The Washington Wizards suffered a 117-107 overtime loss on the road against the Cleveland Cavaliers, dropping their record to 2-1 on the season. No surprise, Bradley Beal led his team in scoring with 27 points in the contest.
Big man Kristaps Porzingis led the team in rebounds with 11 while chipping in with 18 points. Still it wasn’t enough as Donovan Mitchell and the Cavs took over in OT, outscoring the Wiz by 10 points in the five minute period.
Bradley Beal leads the Wizards in points with 23 a game and assists with 6.3 per game. Defense has been Washingtons calling card as they rank 7th with only 108 points allowed per game. Offensively it’s been a different story as they rank 24th with only 107.7 points a game.
Curry Continues To Carry Warriors
The Detroit Pistons record fell to 1-2 after losing 124-115 on the road against the Indiana Pacers. The young point guard Cade Cunningham led his team with 22 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
Isaiah Stewart collected a game-high 17 rebounds while chipping in with 11 points. Detroit features a young core including Cunningham, Stewart, Jaden Ivey and Saddiq Bey. Head coach Dwayne Casey realizes this is a rebuilding year but needs to figure out ways to find wins during the course of the season.
The Pistons are below average in scoring as they rank 19th with 111.3 points a game. Defensively they have been bottom of the barrel with 121 points allowed per game, ranking them 26th in the league.
Washington Wizards vs Detroit Pistons Prediction
The Washington Wizards are favored by 5.5 points with a total set at 220.5. We have a matchup between two young teams, one struggling to score, the other struggling on defense. I lean towards the Pistons with the 5 points but much rather attack this game from a player props perspective.
Starting center Kristaps Porzingis has fallen short of his point total in all three games, including an overtime game. Kyle Kuzma and Bradley Beal are doing the majority of the scoring and KP has been more of a facilitator.
Isaiah Stewart is a stout defender and amazing rebounder, which should limit Porzingis even more. The Wizards have limited Porzingis to about 30 minutes a game, which should once again keep him under 20 points.
