NFL Week 3 First Touchdown Props Prediction: David Montgomery Detroit Lions (+700) FD

After scoring 13 touchdowns in 14 games during the 2023 campaign, David Montgomery has opened the 2024 season with touchdowns in back-to-back games.

Neither of those were a first touchdown but Montgomery did score first in three games last season. This game features the highest total of Week 3 at 51.5 and while there are a lot of mouths to feed, Montgomery does have some advantages.

First off, I expect the Lions to be anxious to score first after losing a game as heavy favorites to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Arizona Cardinals held the Los Angeles Rams to 10 points in Week 2, but they took advantage of what feels like dozens of injuries, and this is still a vulnerable defense.

The Lions always seem to work their way down the field with the likes of Amon-Ra St Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs, but when they get to red zone, it’s Monty time and at +700. I like his chances in a shootout.

NFL Week 3 First Touchdown Props Prediction: Ja’Marr Chase Cincinnati Bengals (+750) DK

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase hasn’t recorded a touchdown this season and he only scored one first touchdown during the 2023 campaign, but I like his chances this week.

Chase and company will play the final game of Week 3 on Monday Night Football, and they find themselves as the biggest favorites with a spread of -7.5.

Chase has seen plenty of volume with a combined 10 receptions on 11 targets and Tee Higgins may return from his hamstring injury which could take some of the attention off of Chase.

The Washington Commanders allowed the most passing yards in 2023 with 262+ per game. This season they have allowed the 11th most with 227.5 per game but those numbers are bit skewed as they did face the low scoring New York Giants in Week 2.

I fully expect the Bengals to score first, and I also expect Chase to be anxious to score under the bright lights of a prime-time game.
