QB Prop Prediction 1: Jordan Love Under 1.5 Pass TDs (+100 projected line)
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has come out of the gates hot with 396 passing yards, 6 touchdowns and no interceptions in his first two games of the 2023 campaign.
He has managed to throw three touchdowns in both games despite attempting only 25 and 27 passes. However, these numbers just don’t seem to be sustainable as Love has completed deep bombs for 51, 32, 30 and 37 yards.
Now Love will have to gear up for a game against the New Orleans Saints who will easily be the stiffest pass defense he has seen to date.
The Saints currently rank 7th with only 160 passing yards allowed per game a season after ranking 2nd with only 184.4 per game.
More importantly, they have only allowed a single passing touchdown and that came in garbage time with only a minute remaining against Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers.
New Orleans has elite defenders like Marshon Lattimore and Tyrann Mathieu in their secondary who can keep Love from going over to his young targets.
The Packers are also dealing with injuries to their skill positions and on the offensive line. Christian Watson remains questionable and as yet to see the field but now running back Aaron Jones and offensive lineman David Bakhtiari & Elgton Jenkins join him on the questionable list.
Regardless this Saints pass defense is legit and Love will have his hands full trying to throw two touchdown passes on a limited attempts. This projected line of 1.5 is pretty standard but the potential juice is another story.
On one hand, the under could be big plus money based on his three touchdowns in each game but the opposing defense will level the line out. If the line is in the neighborhood of +100 or better fire away on under 1.5 passing touchdowns.
QB Prop Prediction 2: Kirk Cousins Over 289.5 Passing Yards (-114)
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has been Mr. Consistency thus far, posting nearly identical stat lines of 33-44 for 344 passing yards in Week 1 and 31-44 for 364 yards in Week 2.
The Vikings currently boast the NFLs 2nd best passing offense with Cousins throwing six touchdowns and only one interception in the process. However, this hasn’t led to a victory as the Vikings have lost by only 6 & 3 points after going 9-0 in one-score games last season.
Minnesota also has the league’s worst rushing attack with only 34.5 yards per game. Now enter the Los Angeles Chargers worst ranked pass defense that surrenders 333 yards per game through the air.
The Chargers are also 0-2 with two one-score losses, a 36-34 shootout against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1 and a 27-24 overtime game to the stagnant Tennessee Titans offense in Week 2.
We may have another one score game in store for us with a spread of only -1 and this game easily has the highest total of the week at 54.
Cousins has plenty of weapons at his disposal including the NFLs best wide receiver in Justin Jefferson. Rookie Jordan Addison has the makings of a lethal #2 receiver and TJ Hockenson is a top-five tight end.
Alexander Mattison has been a bust so far as a starting running back and the Vikings don’t have any other legitimate options.
This game is set up to be a shootout and Cousins has crushed this passing total twice. Take the over a what seems like an awfully low number on Cousins passing yards this Sunday.
