Cleveland Browns vs Cincinnati Bengals Preview
Are you ready for some football? The Halloween version of Monday Night Football is a clash between AFC North rivals the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns.
The Browns have lost four straight games after a 23-20 loss in a back-and-forth contest in Baltimore against the Ravens. The Bengals picked up their second straight victory after defeating the Atlanta Falcons in a 35-17 home victory.
Cincinnati will host the second head-to-head meeting between these two teams in early December. Cleveland won both games last season, 21-16 at home and 41-16 on the road. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 PM EST/5:15 PST from FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland.
Browns Look To Snap Four Game Skid
The Cleveland Browns enter this contest on a four-game losing streak that has resulted in a 2-5 record. Last week was a 23-20 loss in a game where they led 10-3 well into the 2nd quarter.
Nick Chubb had 16 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown. It was a typical Jacoby Brissett game, accurate but lacking explosiveness, going 22 for 27 for 258 passing yards with zero touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Tight end David Njoku caught all seven of his targets for 71 yards. The Cleveland offensive ranks 11th in scoring with 24 points a game. They really heavily on a ground attack that ranks 3rd in the league with an impressive 163.6 rushing yards per game.
Defense has been a struggle as they allow 26.6 points a game that ranks 3rd worst in the NFL. The Browns allowed 23 points in their last game and will need a better effort against this offense to pick up the victory.
Bengals Seek Third Straight Victory
The Cincinnati Bengals enter this contest riding high after two straight victories including a 35-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Joe Burrow unloaded for 481 yards passing and three touchdowns with 34 completions on 42 attempts.
Tyler Boyd caught 8 passes for 155 yards, Ja’Marr Chase caught 8 passes for 130 yards and Tee Higgins caught 5 passes for 93 yards. However, they will now be without the services of Chase as he will miss at least the next four weeks with a hip injury.
The Cincinnati offensive attack ranks 5th in the NFL with 24.7 points per game. It’s mostly predicated on their passing game that also ranks 5th with 278.7 yards per game.
On defense they have been stout with only 18.4 points allowed per game, ranking them 6th in the league. If the Bengals put up a similar effort to last week, the Browns are going to have their hands full.
Cleveland Browns vs Cincinnati Bengals Prediction
The Cincinnati Bengals are 3-point road favorites with a total of 45. These teams are division rivals that know each other very well. The Bengals are in better form but the Browns are at home.
With the spread set at 3 with a total of 45 you could easily make a case for either side. The Browns know they need to lean on the ground game and that means plenty of work for Nick Chubb.
Chubb has a rushing total set at 81.5, a figure he has cleared in 6 of 7 games to open the season for an average of over 105 yards a game. Kareem Hunt has been nearly non-existent the past two weeks with only 9 carries for 16 yards.
Chubb should find success against a defense that ranks 19th as they allow 4.6 yards per carry. Let’s ride with one of the top running backs in the league and take a swing with Nick Chubb over 81.5 rushing yards.
Prediction: Nick Chubb Over 81.5 Rushing Yards -115 Draftkings
