Dallas Cowboys vs Arizona Cardinals Analysis
The games last week for these two teams could not have gone any different. The Cardinals lost to a Colts team who was playing with a practice squad offensive line, and without one of the best defensive players in the league in Darius Leonard, and the Cowboys put up eight TD’s in one of the most dominating performances in the NFL this year.
The total is a big one as it’s up to 51 points now, and the Cowboys are a 6-point favorite at home. I have had a great read on the Cardinals this year, and I know where I’m going with this game already.
I had a feeling the Cardinals would struggle after Deandre Hopkins got ruled out for the rest of the regular season. The Cardinals were a team that peaked at the beginning of the season, and they’ve faltered down the stretch. Injuries, bad coaching, and teams adjusting have all contributed and they’ll need a big effort to break their three game losing streak.
The Cardinals’ running game has been bad the last couple weeks as Chase Edmonds returned from injury only to lose James Conner to a heel injury (game time decision). Last week, the running backs ran 17 times for 59 yards and Kyler Murray was their leading rusher and that’s not a path Arizona wants to go down every week.
On the other side of the ball, the rush defense has just given up 100+ games to Craig Reynolds of the Lions, and Jonathan Taylor of the Colts who was running behind an offensive line that had no starters on it.
Dallas, on the other hand, has won four straight and sits as the NFL leader in ATS record at 12-3, and while they’ve won four in a row, let’s take into account they’ve beaten the Football Team twice, the Giants and the Saints in those four games.
The Cowboys’ defense has really stepped up for them calling 20 or fewer points in six out of their last seven games and Zeke rushing for only 9 times last week gave him some much needed rest on his knee.
Credit to Greg Cossell of NFL Films on this tidbit: Teams have been putting pressure on Kyler Murray with blitzes and playing man coverage on the wide receivers and it’s been very effective. Last week, the Colts blitzed on every third down except for 1, and Arizona went 7-16 on third and fourth downs. Detroit did the same thing with positive results, and Dallas is a top two team in the league in playing man coverage on blitzes, so expect the Dallas front to wreak havoc on Arizona’s offense.
Arizona is playing undisciplined football and good teams are taking advantage, and Dallas is a good team. Zeke and Pollard should be able to rush, and Dak Prescott is playing solid the last two weeks taking what the defense gives him and not forcing anything. As long as this spread stays less than a TD I will continue to fade Arizona.

Dallas Cowboys vs Arizona Cardinals Preview from GoldSheet
Arizona trying to turn the page as the calendar moves to 2022 following three-straight losses to close 2021. Cards backed into a playoff spot with Minnesota’s loss last week but have faltered a bit late in the season the last few seasons and will need win out and have the Rams to lose both their remaining games (at the Ravens and home vs. 49ers) to have any chance to take the NFC West.
Dallas clinched the NFC East before it even played last Sunday night at the Jerry Dome against Washington. That game ended up a Cowboys runaway in which they ran out to a 42-7 first half lead behind 4 Prescott TD passes in the first 30 minutes and downshifted a bit in the 2nd half for a 56-14 win and Prescott ended completing 28 of 39 passes for 330 yards, with the 4 TD passes. The 56 points scored were the most by a Cowboys team in 41 years and the victory puts them back in the picture for top seed in the NFC, positioned just a game behind Green Bay.
Cardinals had problems with penalties in 22-16 loss to the Colts, and the pass D has been poor lately, allowing 70% completions over the last 4 games, and Prescott can take advantage of recent weakness.
