Dallas Cowboys vs Las Vegas Raiders Predictions

  • Dallas Cowboys -7.5 vs Las Vegas Raiders
  • Total: 51.5 Points
  • The Cowboys are 1-9 against the spread in their last ten Thanksgiving games.
  • The over is 17-8-1 in the Raiders’ last 26 games
  • The Cowboys have covered the spread in six of their last seven home games.

The Las Vegas Raiders (5-5, 2-2 Away) visit the Lone Star State for a Thanksgiving Day tradition for the Dallas Cowboys (7-3, 4-1 Home). Thanksgiving and football go hand-in-hand in Texas, Dallas-Fort Worth, that is. Las Vegas has lost three consecutive games since the team’s Week 8 bye. The 32-13 beatdown by the Cincinnati Bengals followed a similar fracture inflicted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the form of a 41-14 rout. Dallas continues to add to their injury report and the loss column. The Amari Cooper-less Cowboys were 19-9 losers last Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Chiefs.

Dallas and Thanksgiving are partners in terms of football. However, football and success have not been a trend for the Cowboys on Turkey eating holiday. The ‘Boys have lost six of its last nine games in the last Thursday of November. The Raiders are playing on Thanksgiving for the first time since 2013, when the then-Oakland Raiders lost 31-24 to the Cowboys.

The Cowboys reside in the top spot of the NFC East standings. Currently. Dallas is easily the most talented team in the division, and only a severe meltdown will prevent this Dallas troupe from being in the same slot of the standings when the Week 18 game finals are in the books. On the other hand, the Raiders have dropped three straight, taking them from first in the AFC West to a tie for the division’s bottom spot with the Denver Broncos.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders are currently in third place, tied for last in the AFC West. However, the Raiders need to earn a “Dub” and let momentum physics take control with five wins and losses and riding a three-game losing streak.

The Bengals only outgained Vegas by 10 yards in a lopsided final score. Cincy forced two turnovers and held the home team to just 13 first downs and 22:40 in time of possession.

The confidence of the Vegas offensive line has affected the Raiders’ ability to convert third downs. The Raiders were 1-of-7 on third down last week. For the season, they are converting just 35.6 percent of their opportunities.

The run game has been almost non-existent as Josh Jacobs has gone over 50 rushing yards just twice on the season. This puts more pressure on Carr, who has thrown just as many interceptions as touchdowns (four each) over the last three games without the ground threat.

The Vegas offense across the last three games is AWOL. The Raiders have managed to score just 43 points while allowing 96 points.

As Darren Waller goes, so goes Derrek Carr. The Walker and Carr connection had 44 receptions and 494 receiving yards, two touchdowns, and 24 first downs.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys lost the game in Kansas City this past Sunday. They also will be without wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to a concussion Thursday. Lamb was sent to the sideline tent for concussion measure minutes before halftime and was directly put on concussion protocol eliminating him from taking part in the second half.

Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott threw for just 216 yards. The Cowboys’ offense played the second half of the Sunday loss to the Cheifs without their two top pass catchers, Lamb and Cooper.

Defensively the Cowboys have been and were outstanding against quarterback Patrick Maholmes and K.C. The Dallas defensive front seven kept Mahomes in check Sunday afternoon. The Cowboys “D” held the Chiefs to just two touchdowns and a total of 19 points. Trevon Diggs has made 32 tackles and stolen pass attempts by opposing quarterbacks on eight occasions. Diggs has been an all-everything and continues to lead this Dallas stop-unit.

Dak Prescott will be without Amari Cooper (COVID-19) for another week, and CeeDee Lamb’s status is up in the air as he is in the concussion protocol. Without the team’s top two wideouts on or all of the following, Michael Gallup, Cedrick Wilson, and Noah Brown will need to step up and make a big catch.

The Dallas run game has been a shell of itself without a healthy left tackle Tyron Smith. The return of Smith on Thursday positions Ezekiel Elliott to exceed 60 yards for the first time since Week 6 in New England.

The Las Vegas defensive front is 29th in the NFL against the run, giving up 132.1 rushing yards per game. So it isn’t unreasonable to expect Elliott and Tony Pollard to have big days on Thursday.

Dallas will be committed to the run with Tyron Smith potentially back along the offensive line until the Raiders prove otherwise.

Dallas Cowboys vs Las Vegas Raiders Injury Report

Las Vegas Raiders
R.B. Jalen Richard (ribs) is questionable
CB Keisean Nixon (undefined) is questionable
LB Nick Kwiatkoski (undefined) is questionable
G John Simpson (ribs) is questionable
O.T. Kamaal Seymour (undefined) is out.

Dallas Cowboys Injury Report
CB Kelvin Joseph (personal) is probable.
C.B. Nahshon Wright (hamstring) is questionable.
WR CeeDee Lamb (concussion) is questionable.
DE DeMarcus Lawrence (foot) remains on injured reserve
WR Amari Cooper (health protocol) is out.
W.R. T.J. Vasher (health protocol) is out.

The Raiders are reeling. The lack of a quality offensive lineup combined with injuries has resulted in a negative regression. The three-game losing streak of the Raiders has resulted in the team falling from first in the division to tied for last place with the broncos. Without Lamb and Cooper, the Cowboys will become more one-dimensional than a coach likes to ponder, but there is little doubt what the Cowboys need to do on Thursday afternoon … that need is running the football, and the results are a win and cover by Dallas.

Dallas Cowboys vs Las Vegas Raiders Analysis from The GoldSheet

The Cowboys threw in another sub-optimal offensive performance at Arrowhead and again paid for it. Dallas was held to just 278 total yards, only 47 plays, 9 points and no touchdowns. Kansas City was in command of the game for the majority of the afternoon, with QB Dak Prescott completed 28-of-43, but was sacked five times and had no TDs but two interceptions and a lost fumble in a 19-9 loss.

Meanwhile, Las Vegas didn’t look much better, getting bounced 32-13 at home against Cincinnati for a third straight loss on the season, with Joe Mixon gashing the Raider rush defense for 123 yards rushing and 2 TDs while Derek Carr and the offense were held to fewer than 300 yards of total offense for the second-consecutive game (both of which were at home!). The Bengals won the turnover battle and had a big edge in miscues, committing just one penalty for five yards while the Raiders had seven for 77 yards. The Raiders had red zone problems again, where they entered the weekend 26th in converting TDs in the final 20 yards, converting one of three chances.

Expect top effort from Las Vegas, which can’t afford to fall farther behind surging Kansas City, as opposed to the Cowboys who still own a 2.5-game lead in the NFC East.
