Past NFL Defensive Player of the Year Prop Winners

2022: Nick Bosa DE San Francisco
2021: TJ Watt LB Pittsburgh
2020: Aaron Donald DT LA Rams
2019: Stephon Gilmore CB New England
2018: Aaron Donald DT LA Rams
2017: Aaron Donald DT LA Rams
2016: Khalil Mack DE Oakland
2015: JJ Watt DE Houston
2014: JJ Watt DE Houston
2013: Luke Kuechly LB Carolina

Sacks are one of the easiest quantifiable statistics for a defensive player to show value to their team. So, it makes sense that 9 of the 10 favorites to win the award are pass rushers.

The award has been won by defensive linemen or edge rushers in 10 of the past 12 seasons. Nick Bosa won the award last season after an 18.5 sack season while TJ Watt got DPOY honors after a 21.5 sack campaign in 2021.

Micah Parsons has flirted with the award, finishing as the runner-up in each of his first two seasons in the NFL. Aaron Donald has brought home DPOY honors three times in his amazing stretch with the Rams.

NFL Defensive Player of the Year Prop Predictions

With sacks being all the rage, we will target players with the opportunity to lead the league in that category. Today we focus on two NFC players to split your bet on with equal wagers on each side.

Nick Bosa +1200

The former No. 2 overall pick Nick Bosa won DPOY last season after recording 51 combined tackles, two forced fumbles and a league-leading 18.5 sacks.

He also led the NFL in QB hits with 48 and tied for second in tackles for a loss with 19. Bosa helped captain the best defense in the league as the 49ers allowed just 300.6 yards of total offense per game, and just 77.7 rushing yards per game.

San Francisco also had the best scoring defense with just 16.3 points allowed per game. With the 49ers projected to be elite again in 2023, Bosa will have the opportunity to create havoc and stack up the sacks necessary to win the award in back-to-back seasons.

Haason Reddick +2500

Haason Reddick received two first-place votes for DPOY in 2022 but finished in 4th place. Reddick’s 16.0 sacks were tied for second-most in the league and his five forced fumbles were the most in the league.

He became the first player in league history to log 10+ sacks in three consecutive seasons with three different teams.

The Eagles dominant pass-rush easily led the league in sacks and that may have over-shadowed Reddick a bit. However, they are expected to be even more aggressive this season and Reddick will likely see plenty of one-on-one matchups.

Reddick is reportedly in great shape and has spoken about taping into another level as a pass-rusher. If his pressures are up, Reddick could potentially approach 20 sacks, giving him extreme value at a +2500 price.
