First TD Scorer Prop Prediction 1: Christian McCaffrey (+600)
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey logged 1,880 all-purpose yards with a total of 13 touchdowns during the 2022 campaign.
After being traded to San Francisco from the Carolina Panthers in Week 7, McCaffrey scored a touchdown in 8 of his last 11 regular season games and all three of his post-season games.
As far as first touchdowns, Brandon Aiyuk (+1300) was the 49ers main target with a total of five first touchdowns in 2022.
However, McCaffrey was the beneficiary down the stretch as he scored first in San Francisco’s final four games.
The 49ers had the edge over the Steelers in this category last season as they scored first 60% of the time while Pittsburgh scored first in 35% of their regular season games. McCaffrey is essentially the favorite on this prop, but we still get +600 odds on him continuing this streak.
First TD Scorer Prop Prediction 2: Alexander Mattison (+550) & Justin Jefferson (+600)
Let’s make equal plays on two different Minnesota Vikings players to take advantage of them being favored by 6 points over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
The Vikings scored first in a third (67%) of their regular season games last season while Tampa Bay only scored first 39% of the time.
Justin Jefferson has been a consistent scorer with 7, 10 and 8 (2022) touchdowns in the first three seasons of his career.
Mattison managed to score a total of six touchdowns last season despite playing a backup role for the majority of the time.
Last season, there were nine different Vikings that scored first and only players with at least three were Dalvin Cook and Jefferson.
Mattison should fill in for Cook now that he is sporting the green and white of the New York Jets. I’m fully expecting the Vikings to score first in this game and these two players give us the best odds to walk away with a profit.
