First TD Scorer Prop Pick 1: Travis Kelce 1st TD Scorer (+550 or better projected line)

The Kansas City Chiefs are 9.5-point road favorites against the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football and while Travis Kelce has two touchdowns in two games, neither one was a first touchdown.

Mahomes has already spread the ball out to 13 different receivers in 2023 and eight of those receivers have caught 7+ passes.

However, Kelce is still Mahomes safety blanket, and he did lead Kansas City with three first touchdowns in 2022. The New York Jets have struggled against tight ends, allowing the 5th most yards with 169 through the first three games of the season.

More importantly, the Jets are tied with the Philadelphia Eagles for most touchdowns allowed tot the tight end position with three each. Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson found paydirt first against the Jets in Week 2. The

Jets offense looked pathetic behind Zach Wilson last week and only scored a single touchdown in garbage time.

The Chiefs have looked strong defensively and Mahomes and company will almost surely draw first blood. I’m banking on Kelce to get the job done against a defense that has struggled to defend his position.

First TD Scorer Prop Prediction 2: Keenan Allen 1st TD Scorer (+750 or better projected line)

Looking toward the favorites wasn’t the only lesson we learned from Tyreek Hills first touchdown cash last week as we also took advantage of Jaylen Waddle being out with an injury.

In Week 4, we will focus on Keenan Allen as fellow wide receiver Mike Williams suffered a season-ending torn ACL last week and running back Austin Ekeler remains questionable with an ankle sprain.

The Chargers targeted their three superstars for early touchdowns in 2022 as Ekeler recorded six first touchdowns while Allen & Williams grabbed two each.

Now that competition is out of the way, and Allen already snagged a first touchdown in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. Allen is the NFL’s second most targeted player with 39 as he sits behind only Puka Nacua with 42.

The Chargers will score first in all likelihood as they are favored by -5 points and they will be playing at home after their first victory of the season.

Vegas ranks middle of the pack in both rushing and receiving yards, but they have allowed four touchdowns to opposing wide receivers.

They allowed touchdowns to outside receivers in Courtland Sutton and Lil Jordan Humphrey in Week 1, Gabe Davis in Week 2 and Calvin Austin III in Week 3. Allen also caught six passes for 88 yards and a touchdown in his last game against the Raiders in December of last year.

A player who is already heavily targeted that has less competition for targets against a defense vulnerable to his position projected for 8 to 1 odds, sign me up!
