First Touchdown Scorer Prop Prediction 1: Austin Ekeler First TD (+550 or better projected line), Kennan Allen First TD (+650 or better projected line) *split unit on each

After cashing a ticket on Breece Hall in Week 8, we will focus on a Jets game again but this time the play will be on the opposition.

We will also be looking to take advantage of the largest discrepancy between two teams first touchdown rates in Week 9 as the Los Angeles Chargers sit at 85.7% while the Jets score at league low 14.3%.

Hall’s touchdown last week was actually the Jets first touchdown this season as we took advantage of a Giants team that hasn’t been much better.

The Chargers on the other hand, have scored first in 6 of 7 games and Austin Ekeler & Keenan Allen lead the way with two each. Ekeler is now fully healthy, and he scored first last week against the Chicago Bears on a 39-yard reception.

Allen didn’t score but he does have first touchdowns in weeks 2 & 5 and now he doesn’t have to compete with Mike Williams.

The Jets do have a great defense, but this play is about their inability to score on offense. Let’s split the bet on the two top options from the Chargers to pull a nice profit if either score first.

First Touchdown Scorer Prop Prediction 2: Nico Collins First TD (+750 or better projected line)

Taking advantage of head-to-head discrepancies at soring first will be the theme of the week as we finally have some solid data to utilize.

The Houston Texans have scored first 4 of their first 7 games this season resulting in a 57.1% success rate. It doesn’t sound very impressive but it’s outstanding when compared to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who sit in the basement of this category with the New York Jets at 14.3%.

The Texans players will also have the advantage of playing on the fast track at home. The four players that scored first for Houston are Dameon Pierce (Week 3), Nico Collins (Week 4), Dalton Schultz (Week 6) and Andrew Beck (Week 7).

The Bucs have a stout run defense and they haven’t allowed a single rushing touchdown to opposing running back yet this season. They have also only allowed one running back touchdown through the air, but Pierce has only caught 9 passes all season and none have been for touchdowns.

Andrew Beck is a running back that nobody has heard of until last week and while his first touchdown number must have been through the roof, we can’t expect to see that again.

Tampa Bay has also only allowed one tight end touchdown this season, the only team better is the Tennessee Titans at 0. That leaves Nico Collins, who has scored three times this season, two of which being his team’s first touchdown.

Wide receiver is the position that has scored most against the Tampa defense with 6 touchdowns on the season.

Hopefully the trend with Tampa struggling to score first continue and the Texans don’t let someone like Mike Evans burn them on a deep one. Regardless we should get a sweet price on Collins and the numbers tell us that he is the logical choice.
