However, legal sportsbooks only tell part of the story of how much money will be bet on Super Bowl 58. Estimates for Total Money Bet on Super Bowl 2024:
The American Gaming Association estimate a staggering $23.1 billion will be bet on the Super Bowl this year! That figure comprises the total money wagered by an estimated 67 million Americans who will bet.
This total number is quite an increase over the estimated $16 billion bet on Super Bowl 57, in 2023.
Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, on the other hand, estimates that $1.25 billion will be bet on the Super Bowl via licensed American sportsbooks. This is interesting, as the expectation is about 7% of total bets will actually come from legal channels. They estimate 13% of that will come from Nevada, followed by 12% from New York and about 10% from New Jersey.
Casual betting, be it between friends and/or office pools may comprise up to 55-60% of the $23 billion bet, while there are estimates that suggest up to $5-$6 billion will be bet on the game via offshore sportsbooks.
