Jacksonville Jaguars vs San Francisco 49ers Predictions
- Jacksonville Jaguars +6.5 vs San Francisco 49ers
- Total: 45 Points
- The under is 7-1 in Jacksonville’s last eight games.
The toughest division in the NFL is the one where Russell Wilson’s team is bringing up the rear.
The Seahawks have fallen behind the 49ers, who hope to leave them in their dust as they’ve now pulled even with the Vikings at 4-5, a half-game behind seventh-place Carolina in the race for the final NFC playoff spot.
Coming off its Monday night 31-10 home rout of the Rams, San Francisco is in the midst of a second-half surge that has helped it recover from a slow, injury-riddled start as it looks to reach the postseason for the second time in three years.
That sounds much better than missing out for the seventh time in eight seasons, which is the fate that awaits the 49ers if they fail to rally. Getting George Kittle back provided a major boost to an offense that has seen Jimmy Garoppolo thrive by getting Deebo Samuel the ball and letting him go to work.
Since San Francisco’s Oct. 17 bye week, Samuel has at least five catches in his team’s last four games and is averaging nearly 108 yards per game. He’s up to five receiving touchdowns and is a lock to top the 1,000-yard mark in Week 11 against the Jags unless he exits early.
The 49ers defense really pressured Matthew Stafford into mistakes and took advantage of the team’s lack of preparation working without Robert Woods, who sadly tore his ACL in practice last Friday. The Niners showed no mercy and dominated in holding the Rams to a season-low 10 points, which doubled as the least amount of points the defense had allowed in a single game.
The 49ers have fallen into a strange pattern they will look to put an end to in Jacksonville. Every week following a strong defensive showing where it held an opponent to 22 or fewer points, San Francisco has surrendered 30 or more to its next opponent. First-year defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans, the 37-year-old former linebacker who was promoted when Robert Saleh took the head coaching job, had had to overcome injuries up front and to key members of his secondary but appears to be turning the corner. Coaxing Lawrence into mistakes and taking advantage of a banged-up Jacksonville offense is a must in order to show the Niners are making progress in terms of consistency.
On the Jacksonville side, the hope is that Jamal Agnew can continue his emergence following a 66-yard TD run against the Colts. Agnew became the first player since 1962 to score via run, pass and returns of a kickoff and a field goal miss in season. Top running back James Robinson returned from injury and gained 57 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries while catching another four passes, so he looked closer to his usual self after a one-game absence. Lawrence struggled to connect with his receivers all afternoon against the Colts and should struggle with San Francisco’s pressure.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs San Francisco 49ers Analysis from The GoldSheet
The Jaguars covered last week against the Colts despite playing from behind all afternoon as No. 1 pick Trevor Lawrence’s rocky first season continued. Lawrence struggled to connect with his receivers all afternoon against the Colts and should struggle with San Francisco’s pressure. The 49ers are 2-0 straight-up in the Eastern Time Zone this season and was 3-0 in the same role a year ago…much better than at home, actually! Jacksonville’s defense has been solid in producing wins over the Dolphins and Bills and tightened up late against Indianapolis after struggling early.
