Minnesota Vikings vs Dallas Cowboys Analysis
Both the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys were involved in overtime thrillers last week with Dallas falling on the road in Green Bay, while the Vikings earned an upset win in Buffalo.
The Cowboys had a two-touchdown lead at Lambeau in the fourth quarter before Aaron Rodgers mounted a surprising comeback. The good news for the Cowboys is that they did not lose too much ground in the NFC East with Philadelphia also losing last week.
The Vikings created some timely turnovers against Buffalo to pick up their seventh-straight win. Minnesota’s defense forced Josh Allen into a costly fumble in the fourth quarter and interception in overtime to seal the win.

Dallas’ Run Defense Remains A Major Concern
The Green Bay Packers, a team not exactly in the elite bracket of running offenses this year, managed to hang 207 yards on the ground last week against Dallas at 5.3 yards per rush attempt.
That’s a major concern in this one as Dallas ranks 29th against the run this season giving up 143.1 yards per game, and now must face a Minnesota team this weekend that averages the third-most rushing touchdowns in the league this year.
Minnesota Cooking This Year Offensively
Only the Kansas City Chiefs have averaged more red zone scoring opportunities this season than Minnesota has so far as this Vikings offense continues to cook this year.
The combination of Dalvin Cook and Justin Jefferson in attack has been especially potent this season, as only Miami’s Tyreek Hill ranks ahead of Jefferson this season in total receiving yards and Dalvin Cook holds the lead for the longest rush from scrimmage this year.

We get the reasoning behind the Cowboys being installed as slim road favorites here with a must-win tag wrapped around them as they look to make up ground in the NFC East, but numbers matter for a reason and we can’t overlook how good Minnesota has been in certain metrics this season.
Dak Prescott made some poor decisions late in that contest with Green Bay. Ezekiel Elliott will be brought back this week, but we’re not sure how he’ll fit into the picture. The Vikings have been living a charmed life for most of this season, and we don’t think the ride will end this weekend. Play Minnesota on the moneyline as a home ‘dog.
