Rams Strengths and Weaknesses

LA Rams Strengths:

LA surprised most of us this year, and one of their biggest surprises was how well they defended the pass. They allowed just 60.8%, easily fitting into the top five.

A healthy Matthew Stafford reminded us why he is a clear top ten (and fringe top five) QB. The aerial game worked, but the best part of the offense was how effective RB Kyren Willaims was (5.0 per carry, 12 TD’s in just 12 games).

LA Rams Weaknesses:

I do not find it a good sign when a team attempts 43 field goals (the Lions attempted just 21). Kicking in general was not their strength (31-43, both kickers 75% or worse). LA had a modest 41 defensive sacks and a -3 turnover ratio.

Lions Strengths and Weaknesses

Detroit Lions Strengths:

Detroit extolled their will in the run game (4.6-3.7 ratio), ending up with a +802 rushing yardage differential. Their two RB’s combined for 23 rushing TD’s. Their fine offensive line allowed just 31 sacks.

Detroit Lions Weaknesses:

While I didn’t have too many obvious strengths to list above, the same is true for this section.

If you want to get really picky, some of the risks they take in play calling (fake punts, questionable 4^th down choices) are no longer necessary. That should be reserved for teams trying to ascend to the big boy table. The Lions hope they have a seat right now.

Rams vs Lions Prediction: The PICK

Almost everything pales in comparison to the McVay, Goff, Stafford dynamic for this game. Which QB will handle the moment better? The Lions are obviously excited to be in this position, and history “seems” to be on their side.

I do have a prop recommendation, and that is to take RB Kyren William OVER 2.5 receptions (currently at -122, but better prices may be available).
