Since Ryan Tannehill took over as quarterback, the over is 27-9 in Tennessee’s games.
Kansas City is 4-13 against the spread in the Chiefs’ last 17 games.

The Chiefs have been really really sloppy to start the season. They beat the worst three teams they’ve faced (Browns, Eagles, Football team), and they’ve lost to the three best teams they played (Ravens, Chargers, Bills). Their defense is terrible and Derrick Henry should run wild.

To me the story in this game is the Titans’ secondary. They are so banged up and injured, and Josh Allen threw for 353 yards against them. Mahomes might get to 400 yards. It will be shocking if Kansas City doesn’t score on most of their possessions. The Chiefs ran the ball for a good amount last week rushing 28 times for 109, but the obvious vulnerability for the Chiefs to expose is the secondary. However, the Titans can move the ball as well with Derrick Henry as the anchor and AJ Brown getting healthier.

It’s hard to predict either of the defenses offering up much resistance to these offenses, so in handicapping this game I have to look at overs of some sort. My favorite play for this game is Tennessee OVER 12.5 first half points. They are averaging 16.7 first half points the last three games, and Kansas City has given up 13 or more points in every first half this season.

There are still questions about the Kansas City defense that was fortunate Washington was so ponderous offensively it couldn’t take full advantage last week of three Chiefs giveaways in the first half. The latter has become a bit of a recurring storyline lately for Patrick Mahomes, and while the Kansas City offense is hardly shorthanded, the running game could suffer as long as Clyde Edwards-Helaire is out. Derrick Henry was a tough matchup for Kansas City the last time these teams faced at Nashville in 2019, blasting for 188 yards rushing in a 33-30 Titans win.
