Arizona Coyotes vs Washington Capitals Analysis
Despite a tough OT loss against Vegas on Wednesday, the Capitals have been on a red-hot run to close out the season, winning 15 of their last 22 games overall since the start of March.
Arizona meanwhile, despite putting in some decent performances of late, lost their eighth straight game on Wednesday night at home against Chicago.
The Washington Capitals have beaten the Arizona Coyotes once already this season back in October with a 2-0 win at the Capital One Arena.
Washington Excellent On The Road This Year
The Capitals have been excellent on their travels this season, posting a 24-8-6 mark away from this home year. That’s one of the best road records in the league as primarily most of Washington’s issues have come at home this season.
They’ll hope to continue that electric road record here on Friday against a team in Arizona who owns the league’s worst overall home record.
Arizona Closing Out The Season As They Opened It
The Coyotes current 0-7-1 streak is starting to mirror their opening 0-10-1 streak that started off the year as they look to find a bright spark on the season so far.
Despite not getting it done in the win/loss column however, the Coyotes have been playing better of late, pushing Carolina hard last Monday before going to OT on Wednesday against Chicago also.
Arizona Coyotes vs Washington Capitals Prediction
Despite the Arizona Coyotes playing marginally better over their last few starts, we expect the Washington Capitals to win and cover this one by margin on Friday over in Glendale.
Karel Vejmelka is expected to start in nets tonight for the Coyotes and he’s been extremely sub-par this season posting the 5th worst GSAA average in the league with a sub .900 SV% also.
On top of that, the Coyotes are averaging the league’s lowest scoring average this season as well at just 2.44 gpg along with the league’s lowest shot count at 25.87 spg.
Only Montreal has given up more high danger scoring opportunities inside the slot area this season than Arizona have, so we expect Washington to not only win this game on Friday, but also to cover on the puckline as well.
Prediction: Washington Capitals -1.5 (-145)
