Calgary Flames vs Vancouver Canucks Betting Analysis
Two teams clash on Wednesday night who have each split three of their last six games respectively, but it’s arguably the Calgary Flames who are the ones in much greater need of a win here ahead of tonight’s clash.
That’s due to the Flames losing three straight after a recent road trip against the Blue Jackets, Maple Leafs, and Canadiens respectively, and they’ll be looking for a swift return to form at home here on Wednesday.
The Vancouver Canucks for their part have also won just three of their last six games overall, but have been on a solid run since mid-November, winning eight of their last twelve contests overall.
These two teams met four times last season with Calgary winning three of the four contests outright.
Vancouver Have Struggled On The Road In This Series
While the Vancouver Canucks have won all five of their previous road starts in the league heading into Wednesday night’s game, the Scotiabank Saddledome in Alberta certainly hasn’t been on their list of favorite destinations over the last few seasons due to a woeful head-to-head record against the Calgary Flames.
The Canucks have absolutely fallen flat against the Flames in this venue, losing 17 of their last 22 visits to Calgary over recent seasons.
Flames Solid On Defense This Year
While the Calgary Flames don’t own the best scoring defense in the league this year, they nevertheless have been solid on defense overall, giving up the 4th fewest shots to opponents in the league this season along with ranking top ten on overall defensive xGA as well.
The one area Calgary really needs to work on however is their opponent conversion percentage, which ranks in the double digits this season, along with ranking 24th on opponent high-danger conversion percentage this year also.

Early money has shown up on the Calgary Flames in this one and it’s hard to argue given Vancouver’s numbers this season.
The Canucks rank bottom half in the league in overall scoring defense, opponent shots against, opponent conversion percentage, defensive xGA, and opponent high-danger scoring opportunities given up this year also, and it’ll be a tall ask for them to keep out a Calgary Flames team here on Wednesday that ranks top five in the league this season on total offensive shots per game.
With the red-hot home series record the Flames have enjoyed over the Canucks in recent seasons as well, we’re taking the Calgary Flames to bounce back with a win here on Wednesday at home against the Vancouver Canucks.
