Carolina Hurricanes vs New York Rangers Analysis
Home advantage has been held throughout this series but the Rangers will hope to break that tonight as they come off winning three of the last four against the Hurricanes overall.
Carolina won three of the four games against New York during the regular season, but the Rangers did secure a 2-0 victory in Raleigh back in March against the Hurricanes.
New York Ice Cold On The Road
The New York Rangers have won just one postseason game away from home, and it was in a game where they were installed as a road favorite in Pittsburgh in the last round.
However, as road underdogs, the Rangers have been ice cold over these playoffs so far, going 0-5. On top of that, New York has only earned one win in their last seven trips to Raleigh.
That one solitary win, which we mentioned previously for New York down in North Carolina, saw the Rangers get out-shot by the Hurricanes 44-18 despite the Rangers claiming the ‘W.’ So they will need to improve drastically here if they’re going to make it win number two on the road on Monday.
Carolina Rock-Solid At Home
Despite New York having the goalie advantage in this series so far, Carolina’s defensive numbers have been exceptional at home over these playoffs, allowing an average of just 1.14 goals per game in all of their postseason matchups in Raleigh up to this point.
That defensive presence hasn’t just been a factor for Carolina in the postseason either, as the Hurricanes ranked as the No. 1 defensive team in the league this season overall, allowing just 2.44 gpg to opponents this year, the best number out of any team in the league this season.
With the under going 4-0 in the Hurricanes’ last four home games as well heading into Monday, those rock-solid defensive numbers look set to continue here into Game 7 as well.
Carolina Hurricanes vs New York Rangers Prediction
It’s hard to look past Carolina’s exceptional home form over these playoffs so far and that’s who we’re backing for Monday.
The Hurricanes has won every game at home over this postseason so far and have outscored opponents to the tune of a 25-8 scoring advantage as well, owning a similarly impressive 7-2 scoring advantage over the Rangers in this series also.
Take the Carolina Hurricanes on the moneyline on Monday to maintain home advantage and take Game 7 tonight against the New York Rangers down in Raleigh.
