Colorado Avalanche vs Florida Panthers Betting Analysis
The Florida Panthers will look to get back on track in Game 3 of their four-game road trip when they take on the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night over at Ball Arena in Denver.
The Panthers got drubbed 5-1 by the Dallas Stars on Sunday in a game they were never really in, but did win their previous two games prior to that against the Detroit Red Wings and Arizona Coyotes respectively.
They face a Colorado team in this one that finally snapped a five-game losing streak of their own on Saturday with a 3-2 OT win on the road against Edmonton, and will look to make it two-from-two returning home here on Tuesday.
This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season after the pair split two games apiece last season, each winning on the opponent’s home ice.
Panthers Failing To Turn Data Dominance Into Results
The Florida Panthers own the league’s best offensive xG ranking this season, just as they did last season also, but it simply hasn’t had the same type of desired effect as they’ve struggled to convert those same chances into goals this year.
Florida’s sub-10% shot conversion percentage this season is one of the league’s lowest, and is accompanied by a sub-10% high-danger conversion percentage also, putting the Panthers 20th or lower in both categories this year.
Defending Champions Look Vulnerable
It’s fair to say the Colorado Avalanche have looked anything like last season’s version so far this year, and their numbers agree with that, ranking 24th on overall offensive scoring this season at just 2.87 gpg and posting the 3rd lowest connect percentage out of any team in the league this year also at 8.60%.
The most noticeable culprit for all of this is Colorado’s expected to actual goals differential, which sat at a mammoth +33 goals last season for #1 in the league, but one that has all but deserted them this year, currently sitting at -8 overall.

Despite all of Colorado’s noticeable drop-off this season, the one area where they continue to excel in is opponent high-danger creation and conversion rate this season, sitting as one of the best teams in the entire league when it comes to limiting opponents inside the slot area.
That’s an area Florida have simply failed to capitalize on this year, ranking 20th in the league on high-danger conversion rate this season, so the Avalanche definitely have the ability to limit them in this one.
