Colorado Avalanche vs St. Louis Blues Analysis
After dropping both of their recent home games to the Colorado Avalanche, the St. Louis Blues travel to Denver on Wednesday night facing elimination as they try to turn around a series that they’ve been largely dwarfed in.
The Avalanche have been rampant in front of goal, especially over the last two games, scoring 11 goals combined over the last six periods and will look to move into the Stanley Cup semi-finals with yet another victory tonight.
Colorado went 2-1 against St. Louis over the regular season but just like this current series, that one loss came at home for the Avalanche.
St. Louis’ Electric Shooting Percentage Deserting them
The Blues owned the leagues highest shots to goal percentage during the regular season but they’ve witnessed a noticeable decline in that over these playoffs so far.
St. Louis held a 12.40% shots to goal percent average across the season as a whole, almost a full percentage point higher than any other team in the league this year. That number though has been cut by almost 1.3% over these playoffs so far which has had a noticeable effect on their overall offensive output in this series.
Colorado Running The Board On Offense
The Colorado Avalanche rank as the #1 offensive team over these playoffs so far averaging a colossal 4.50 goals per game and 40.62 shots per game also.
Center Nazim Kadri has been a large part of that success scoring four goals with two assists over just his last two starts for the Avalanche and has looked on fire ever since the Binnington incident stoked the flames with some bad blood between the Blues and Avalanche after Game 3.
Colorado Avalanche vs St. Louis Blues Game 5 Prediction
The Blues need an absolutely massive turnaround here and I’m just not sure they have it in them.
The injury to Binnington in net, while important, isn’t enough to warrant the Blues falling apart here as Husso actually put up much better numbers during the regular season as a whole, but that factor combined with an offense that’s gone from averaging 3.67 gpg in round one to just 2.75 gpg over this round means its difficult to see the Blues overcoming their current predicament tonight and we expect Colorado to advance here.
We believe the Avalanche close the show tonight at home and we’re taking them in regulation to get the outright win in Denver and advance against the St. Louis Blues in Game 5.
Prediction: Colorado Avalanche Moneyline in Regulation
