Columbus Blue Jackets vs Buffalo Sabres Betting Analysis

After losing eight straight games through November, the Buffalo Sabres look to have picked up some of their early season form once again, winning four of their last seven games overall.

The Columbus Blue Jackets meanwhile continue to struggle, winning just one of their last six games after coming off yet another lopsided loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night.

These two teams played each other three times last season with Columbus winning all three meetings between the pair and scoring an average of six goals per game against the Sabres across those meetings as well.

Buffalo Games Remain High-Flying This Season

The Buffalo Sabres own the league’s 3rd best scoring offense this season, netting an average of 3.80 goals per game with a shot conversion percentage of 11.64% also, which is again the 3rd highest mark in the league this season.

The issue for the Sabres, however, and the reason that their games have been so entertaining this season as well, is that their defense has given up a huge 3.68 gapg to opponents this season and ranks 25th on defensive xGA also.

Blue Jackets Failing To Light It Up Offensively

A 2.87 gpg scoring average this season for the Blue Jackets, coupled with a sub-10 % shot conversion percentage also, has continued to see Columbus struggle to keep up with opponents in games this year.

That’s not something that’s likely to get much easier for the Blue Jackets moving forward either as they currently rank 29th on offensive xG this season and 31st on high-danger creation rate also.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Buffalo Sabres Prediction

While Columbus has struggled to gain traction all year offensively, we‘re just not sure either team has the capability of stopping the other one on defense in this one.

Both teams rank 21st or below in defensive xGA this season and Columbus and Buffalo rank 22nd and 23rd respectively on opponent high-danger creation rate this year also, with Columbus being especially poor, giving up a massive 12.7% conversion percentage inside the slot area this year.

We’re looking towards taking goals in this one on Wednesday and like the value on the Over 6.5 between the Buffalo Sabres and the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday.

Prediction: Over 6.5 Goals Scored -130
